Troy holds true to its roots today as it continues to offer one of the best teaching degrees in the state as well as the southeast. As the years went by, Troy began to grow, and in turn began to offer more to its students than just a teachers’ curriculum. In 1962, Troy Normal School became known as Troy State College. Troy State College was eventually changed to Troy State University, and now changed to Troy University.
Still known for its journalism, nursing, and teaching programs, Troy University continues to provide an excellent education with a small school atmosphere. Gameday Tips
On game days, there are several areas for parking. The red light located at the entrance to the campus is the area of the campus known as “Tailgate Terrace”. This area will be extremely busy on game days, and is the area of campus that is reserved for RVs and tailgating. T
The best parking is located on campus. To get there turn left at the red light at the campus entrance, and continue through the campus past the baseball stadium. Color coded parking areas are provided for donors as well as visitors. The closest parking areas are reserved for donors of the program, but the visitors lots are not too far from the stadium. Visitors lots are open to anyone and everyone so we recommend arriving early to get a good spot.
Another good area to park is the parking lot located directly in front of Charles Henderson High School. To get to this area continue straight through the red light at the campus entrance instead of turning left. You will need to be in the right hand lane. Continue on the road past the stadium on your left, the National Guard Armory on your right as well as the Fire Station on your right. The high school parking lot is located at the next red light. Take a right at this red light and you are there. Be careful crossing the road to get to the stadium, because traffic will be heavy.
Troy's small town atmosphere makes it a pleasant place to visit. But let's be honest, you are not here to see the sites. You are here to see some college football. You will be hard pressed to find a nicer setting for a college football game than Movie Gallery Stadium. There isn't a bad seat in the house and the video replay scoreboard will bring all the action to you up close and personal. The awesome 6 story pressbox will amaze you as it towers over the entire stadium. The stands have been moved closer to the field to enhance the atmosphere making for an even tougher place for opponents to play. Your trip to Troy and Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium will be one that you will never forget.
