Troy University's growing student body has administrators preparing for future campus expansion.

As part of a new fund raising initiative, the university is looking to acquire funding for numerous projects by 2013...

...While the initiative extends beyond Troy's main campus, several projects are listed in Troy.

Two new classroom buildings, renovations to Bibb Graves Hall and the John M. Long School of Music and the addition of an Honors College on campus are just some of the things on the initiative.

One of the new classroom buildings is the already-in-progress College of Education, and the other is a new Health and Science Center.

Also included in the plans are two new doctorate programs for the university in nursing and public policy, though the nursing doctorate degree will be the implemented first.

In addition, the initiative includes plans to renovate the Davis Field House, which has not had any changes since 1998, and to build a new multi-purpose sports facility to house a new basketball arena and commencement area...

I thought a couple of the comments at the bottom of the page from various local yocals from Troy were quite amusing. These folks need to realize that if it weren't for the university, Troy would be about the size of Goshen.

I never realized there was such hatred of Troy University amongst the locals. I knew many of them were UA/AU people but I never realized the angst against Troy University. Wow!!!

They should realize that Troy has made the community, without it they would all be working down at the lead plant or farming peanuts. One thing is certain Troy University has been in Troy since before any of the current residents were born and it will be there long after they all are dead!
