Look into Southwest I believe for lowest airfare. I think several MTSU fans got some good deals flying into Ft. Lauderdale, and that is the closest airport that will get you the best fares. Palm Beach International is actually a quieter ariprot, but theyre arent as many deals flying into it.

As to Hotels, there is a La Quinta that is VERY close to Lockhart Stadium, within walking distance actually. Being a Tuesday game this is probably your best option.

If you were going to make a long weekend out of it and stay Sat-Sun-Mon, I would suggest looking into a few of the Lauderdale by The Sea beach resorts. Again, I belive that several MTSU fans booked a beach hotel together and had a blast. That time of year the rates are not prohibitive as that is off season.

There is lots of night life in Ft. Lauderdale to partake of. But we can give you more information on that if you're going to stay longer.

Looking forward to our game. Wish our spring practice had started already. Im a football junkie so Im DYING without any real news on the FAU football front.

If I can help any more please dont hesitate to ask. And BMarkey has lil more info on the nightlife then I do.

GO OWLS!

Southwest will probably be your best bet if you are flying out of Birmingham. If Atlanta is an option then Airtran by far has the best rates. My wife and I traveled Airtran to the FIU game last year for $54 a person one way. To get those rates your schedule may have to be flexible. I have found that with Airtran the best days to travel are Tuesday,Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. If you just want to go down and see the game you could fly down Tuesday morning(October 7) and be there in plenty of time to get into your motel and still have several hours before the game (assuming a night game). Then you could fly back on Wednesday or Thursday and probably get some great rates. If the game is at Lockhart Stadium I would reccommend Fort Lauderdale (FLL) first and West Palm (PBI)next. As far as when to book I would start looking in June. Both Southwest and Airtran will begin to run specials during this time for fall travel. I would check Airtran daily. Last year they offered a one way flight from Atlanta to Fort Lauderdale for $29 on Saturday. If you will start planning for this now you can really save some money. My wife and I are planning on making this game also. Good luck!! We hope to see you and many other Troy fans there.

Good advice.

To add to it ...

Palm Beach International (PBI) is much nicer and easier to access, with its own I-95 ramp, than Fort Lauderdale. Parking, car rental, baggage, security, etc, are all much easier and quicker to access at PBI.

That said, PBI is a bit closer to FAU's campus, but Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International (FLL) is much closer to the game site. PBI is less than an hour's drive (45 minutes) to Lockhart Stadium, while, FLL is between 15 and 30 minutes away.

Both offer free Internet access and cell-phone, short-term parking lots.

Both offer just about the same Southwest deals, with FLL, perhaps, having more flights from which to choose. Book early and get the best deals.

PBI has AirTran ... errr... ValuJet ... (probably FLL, too). Check Delta (PBI and FLL) for deals as well, especially from ATL. PBI has most of the major airlines, from Continental to Northwest, American, JetBlue, Air Canada, TED, U.S. Airlines, Frontier, etc.

As for hotels, I would recommend coming down for the weekend and staying at or near the beach and experiencing the water, entertainment, etc. There is a head-spinning amount of things to do from Miami (30 minutes south) to Palm Beach (30-45 minutes north), ranging frm water and golf outings to some of the best fresh and salt water fishing in the world, pro sports, attractions from Metro Zoo to the Palm Beach Zoo, Butterfly World, Lion Country Safari and even the Sawgrass Mills Mall.

Temperatures will still be in the 80s, at least.

There are great motel-hotel deals at that time of year.

If you're just coming for the game, there are some decent moderate scale motels along Commercial Blvd. (road Lockhart Stadium is on) near Florida's Turnpike, around 10 minutes west of the stadium.

I agree with Southwest. I flew out of Nashville on Labor Day weekend. $140 round trip into Ft. Lauderdale.

Stay in Lauderdale by the Sea. We found a hotel (I forgot the name) on the beach for less than $100/night. This area is a nice place and only 10 minutes or so from the stadium.

Air Fare is ONLY going to go up with the Fuel situation. Might be the best time to get a ticket.

Hope some of you can make it, I think your boys are gonna be PUMPED up. I just hope my owls keep that in mind and dont loose focus. Even with the Tuesday night game, its gonna be awsome. ESPN coverage and the national stage for both our schools

I'll apologize in advance for the state of Lockhart Stadium. BELIEVE me we dont like playing there or going there anymore then the opposition does.

If anyone has any other questions please let me know.
