Wow, did not see this. Has TMTDM ever had an Olympian? - and Dr. Coste doesn't count!
Good luck O'Darien, make us all proud - not that you haven't already.

Charles Oliver (otherwise known as Coach O of the Coach O Invitational Cross Country Meet and the Coach O Invitational Track and Field Meet) was an alternate on two United States Olympic teams in the 400 meter and the 4x400 meter relay.

Nick Costes doesn't count? He finished 3rd at Boston in 1955, clocking the fastest time ever for an American at the Marathon distance (2:19.57, 5:20 per mile for 26.2 miles). This was way before the complex training methods of today ever came about. He went on to finish 20th in the marathon at the Olympics the next year. He was the best we had at the time. Granted he was a Slippery Rock graduate, but face it, Troy Track and Field exists b/c of this man and US distance running began with him as well. Show some respect...he spent the last half of his life in Troy and was the most committed runner I've ever known.
