Troy plans to keep same offense

The days of Tony Franklin at Troy University are no longer, but the spread offense will remain.
Head coach Larry Blakeney said Wednesday night following Franklin’s acceptance of the offensive coordinator position at Auburn that the Trojans would look to keep the same offense that Franklin brought with him two years ago.
“We’re without an offensive coordinator who was one of the best in the business,” Blakeney said. “He meant a lot more to us than just as a coach. We’ve got some recovery time before we make a decision.”
Blakeney said a new offensive assistant would be hired, but it would not be in the position of offensive coordinator. That means one of the four remaining offensive assistants — inside receivers coach Neal Brown, outside receivers/special teams coach Shayne Wasden, offensive line coach John Schlarman and running backs coach Chad Scott — would be in line for the job......
