Nowhere on this board have I seen one thing about this. I am putting a call in to the Athletic Dept. and asking Ricky Hazel about this. I didn't even know we had a team, much less one as competitive as this. Please, someone tell me that I have missed the boat here and just didn't read the updates.

I am furious at our Athletic Director and will certainly let him know about this. The unbelievable gaul of not informing us that this was happening has taken me back several steps.

AUS, Preston enter Skyline Cup final

DUBAI — American University of Sharjah (AUS) defeated Troy University and Preston University, Ajman defeated BITS Dubai in the semifinals of the Skyline Cup Twenty/20 inter-college cricket tournament.


The final will be held in Sharjah Cricket Stadium on December 12 at 12.30pm.

Troy University won the toss and decided to bowl. Daniyal and Bilal. B opened batting for AUS.

The openers gave a good start to AUS. They lost their first wicket when Daniyal was caught off Ajlan’s ball.

The partnership had scored 52 runs in 30 balls. The AUS skipper Daniyal who is in top form throughout the tournament scored 32 runs in 17 balls.

Bilal B scored 41 runs. Naresh who came after the fall of the first wicket kept the run rate high and he scored 67 runs to take his team to a comfortable total of 211 for the fall of 7 wickets. Adel took 3 wickets for Troy.

Troy also got a very good start as their openers Zain and Ibrahim cobined well for 63 runs.

Troy could only score 162 runs for 8 wickets. AUS won the match by a margin of 49 runs to reach the final.

In another semifinal, Preston University, Ajamn scored a comfortable 80 runs win over last year's runners-up BITS, Dubai.

Preston who won the toss elected to bat first, hit up 203 in 20 overs.

Amin of Preston displayed a wonderful batting feast for the spectators.

He scored 100 runs off 48 balls to take his team to victory.

His innings included 9 boundaries and 5 sixers. Tanmay took 3 wickets for BITS.

BITS’ openers could not find the rhythm and both were out when their score read 1 and 7.

Only Varun from BITS could withstand the fine bowling from Preston.

BITS’ hopes did not last when Varun was caught off Saif’s ball. He scored 47.

Then there was a steady fall of wickets. BITS were all out for 124 runs in 16 overs. Saif took 4 wickets for Preston.

Semifinal score: AUS 211-7 Troy 162-8; Man of the Match: Bilal of AUS

Preston 203-9 BITS 124; Man of the Match: Amin of Preston.
