Seriously when is this issue of Trojan stuff going to be solved? Its pretty sad that I see on tv for example Miami (OHio) that have fans with Redhawk jerseys! Are we ever going to update our bookstore website? Are we ever going to market new and exciting products? Can we finally get game jerseys??? Hell I dont care how much they are!! I want one dammit! I want to show my Trojan Pride. Plus I want a new car magnet for my car dammit!?!? Can someone shed some light on this?..because soon I am about to email Dr. Hawkins and friends about the issue. Fans want merchandise!!! dammit!!!!!

I'll bet those "TSU" flags are just flying off the shelf at the bookstore.

Seriously, why don't they just discount the heck out of that stuff - which is just sitting there - and bring in the new logo merchandise?

BTW, Wal-Mart had nothing with the new name or logo a few weeks ago.

I have been extremely disappointed in the selection and availability of Trojan gear. I said over and over before the season began that I though it was a mistake to wait until the first home game to release the new logos. And sure enough, they didn't even order enough merchandise or even the right stuff for the premeire. Screentech didn't even have a black cap with the new logo available!

Why don't they consult some of us fans before they go and make bone-headed decisions like this? The logos look really, really good--except for the He-man (which they doctored up a bit from the draft), but if we can't get them on anything, it doesn't matter.

Why didn't they order car tags, magents, car flags, large flags, etc... with the new logos on them? They have none of it. We missed a major opportunity to market our university by not having the forsight to plan and strategize. It amazes me. I had the best marketing training you can get at Troy. Why don't they employ someone who had that kind of training to run the athletic marketing???? Doesn't that make sense??? Instead, they do nothing.

Ok, I'm stepping off the soapbox now!

Those in charge of the store merchandise warned that a late rollout of new logos would create this situation. They requested the logos so that new merchandise would be available in conjunction with the rollout of new images. They were told the logo change would not occur this year and to proceed with merchandise orders. Mid-year, admin flip flopped and shot from the hip.

For those unhappy with this, you should email Hawkins and his executive cabinet because they are to blame. It is not the store's fault.

Yeah this has been a major ball drop for the university if you ask me. With that said, I am going too be makeing a few things for Trojan Fans. This is going too consist of only one or two things at first then moving too more stuff too buy. It has been something I have been thining about for a long long time. But what I need too know is what do Trojan Fans want too buy. I have been thinking of creating Two T-Shirts, a coffee mug, as well as a TU Mouse Pad.

Would everyone purchase this stuff if I got it all made? More encouragement will help me get it going alittle quicker then i was planning. :D

Is getting the license to do all that. You have to pay a fee to the university and then a percentage of all you sell. Even if you don't sell anything, you have to send them quarterly reports. Crazy. That's why no one has done it.

Of course, with the agreement with Screen-tech, they may not give out any license to others. I have heard that's what they are trying to do. Who knows?

Well there is a way around that, meaning you can modify the Trojan graphics or even create your own.

I will contact the University too see exactly what the cost are and the duties too do this.

It could be done if someone wanted too devote the time and energy too do it.

I'd probably buy a cap, mug, mouse pad and more.

I'd like to see some cool (relatively inexpensive) T-shirts and some simple polos with the new logo. I like the smooth Ralph Lauren Polo feel of the fabric (not the more coarse knit style), but if it fits and looks good ...

Maybe some T's, each with an image from a big games (goal post coming down?), scores and a slogan?

To produce and sell approved products a person or company must obtain a lecense agreement. This was done through Auxiliary Services for years but I think they outsourced licensing to a third party. Contact Sohail Agboatwala, Director of Auxiliary Services. He will know the details.

In the past, you paid a $100 application fee and paid 7% of gross sales in royalties each quarter. The quarterly report must be filed whether any sales were made or not but it takes about 1 minute to complete that report with no sales.

The intent is definitely not to give Screentech the exclusive as they can't provide the entire range of products needed. To my knowledge, the only company to get the new designs were those that supply athletics. The other 100 or so licensed vendors did not produce merchandise because the university did not provide the designs to them. Nothing happens until the designs are officially provided by the university. Altering the design or making a new one is not acceptable if it in any way resembles the protected marks of the university. Anyone that trys that approach will get a cease and desist letter from the general counsel. The university must do this to protect the trademark.

That is great resposne, and I am pretty sure its from someone at the University. I will contact Sohail and see what he has too say.

The licensing group they are using is called SMA (Strategic Marketin Affliates). They are much like the CLC (College Licensing Committee. They represent Troy & you have to be approved by them to make any Troy licensed product. If they are anything like the CLC, they can help manufacturers get their foot in the door with retailors. They can also police Troy product. It is correct that they can ask you to stop maiking product if you are not an approved vendor. They can also go as far fining you or even taking you to court.

Yeah i have contacted them and am in the process of getting approved. They are good people there!!

They are really good folks that care about people not screwing the university.

They just need to limit who gets the license & who doesn't. I work in the Corp office for Hibbett's in B'Ham & there is some really bad product out there. You can get hurt if you do not choose wisely. Just ask LSU last year.

I know some people are ordering jerseys from somewhere. I have seen about 20 Derrick Ansley Jerseys at the game.

The bookstore in the Trojan Center has Troy State jerseys with #94, #9, #10, and a couple others...but again...they are Troy State jerseys...not Troy jerseys, I doubt we'll get Troy jerseys this year since the team is just wearing modified Troy State jerseys...

I bought one of the Troy State jerseys (#9 !!) and had it modified. It looks pretty sharp and DeWhitt said that it looked better than the ones the team is wearing.

Let me dispell one thing here. In order to sell "Officially Licensed" merchandise, you not only have to pay the appropriate fees, but the Licensing Agent REQUIRES a business to carry a 1 million dollar insurance policy on EACH line of Licensed Merchandise they intend to sell. Line meaning things like Cups and Mugs or Apparel, etc. I know this because I know the owner of a local business currently in process of getting the licensing approval. So, be forewarned about illegally licensing apparel and such. They ARE watching. That's why Walmart hasn't ordered any of the newly licensed logo items...well that and they fact they have so much of the old merchandise.

troymarkus

I'm not so sure about that..but in any case, a $1 Million policy would probably be only a couple hundred a year for something like that. Very minimal really.

Until this site gets its store up and running, you can call the bookstore @ 1-800-358-3855. They have some new logo stuff and will ship whatever you order to you if you cant make it to Troy.

You can also call the ScreenTech store in Dothan @ 1-800-230-7010. They have a little better stock of Troy stuff I think, and they will ship to you also. I believe they have about the same stuff they were selling at the Gallery on game day. They said a website was under construction.

I put in an order today of a few items, Ill let everone know how it goes.

The store is almost done, will probably be up by Friday or maybe Monday. I am in the middle of testing it right now and working out the last few bugs for it to be perfect.

Sorry I couldn't wait, I just wanted to make sure I had some new stuff for the Baton Rouge trip.

What kind of stuff are you starting out with?

I have everything that the bookstore has right now, and the prices will be cheaper alittle bit cheaper.

We will be getting more and more merchindise as the days go on. We have recently become licensed to use the Logos by the Legal Team representing the University, SMA Works. So we will be getting in touch with the other merchidiseses of Troy University merchindise, which will allow us too provide much more then the bookstore, or anywhere that sells TU merchindise.

We wanted to have a place were TU fans could come and get all the merchindise they wanted, without going to Troy to get it.

We will be launching the new Store either friday or monday, depending on on how fast we can get the bugs fixed and the testing complete. We want to give everyone plenty of time to order items in time for homecoming.

Thanks for putting together the store. As soon as I have some money, I'm sure I will be doing some Christmas shopping there :D

Faith, you pulled this one off very quickly. Way to go.

How will the orders be fulfilled for such a wide range of merchandise from different vendors? Surely you are not warehousing the product. Just wondering, if I purchase several items produced by several vendors should I expect to get several packages with several shipping charges?

Just trying to understand the process.

Thanks again for your efforts on this board and the new merchandise site.

You guess it my friend, GoTroyTrojans.Com is going to be warehousing it all for right now. Currently the only vendor I have ordered from is ScreenTech. They are the only real "producer" of TU merchindise that is going mainstream. I will be receiving the list of all the merchants early next week which will allow me to contact them and expand the merchindise we have.

Its going to take alittle while for us to build the amount of merchants we have on stock, but right now it is also going to take a some time for Troy to expand the merchants. We will do our best to provide everything we can for our customers to choose from.

In saying that, i am going to say this. This Online store will work, it my be bumpy at the start but it is going to succeed and we will be the #1 place Online to purchase Trojan Gear.

Jeff? Thought you might want to know, you might could expand your line a bit. Troy Cleaners should be licensed very soon to "Produce" stitched type apparrel. Plus I know Greg would most likely enjoy the business as well.

Screentech is a good company...2 of the owners (brothers)are from Dothan. One used to be a football coach at Dothan High turned Asst. Principal (retired now), and the other one is president of the Wiregrass Troy U. Alumni Association. Really good guys, quality stuff. It was quite nice in high school to have such good gameday shirts, nicest ones I've seen of all high-school gameday shirts.
