Can someone please give me some tailgating info? I love football but have never really done any tailgating at games. I did not attend "main" campus so I am not familiar with the best locations for tailgating on campus with my family(wife and little ones).

Any help? Just want to relax, enjoy the pregame atmosphere, and maybe grill a dog or a burger or two.

Thanks

Tailgating on Troy's campus has grown exponentially in the last five years, when I was there you could park anywhere and set up your grill. The last few tiems I've been back it's been alot more corwded, but still plenty of nice spots to park your SUV, set up your grill and enjoy an afternoon of quality time with your family and the Troy Family. Most of the RV's etc park in a lot right next to the stadium on the other side of University Ave., if you can get there early enough to get a spot there, great (not sure if you need pass??) but if not, go down University and you'll find a quad surrounded by a drive and Magnolias - great place to tailgate, lots of students in that area last time, usually a band, energetic atmosphere, if that's too busy for you, you can always find quieter spots under a tree on campus farther away (but nothing on Troy's campus is too far away to walk to the game - unlike LSU where I am now and tailgating extends for miles in every direction). If you bring a tarp, you can set it up most anywhere on campus - first come, first serve. Just look around and you'll see plenty of families doing the same. Traffic close to University and George Wallace gets crazy within a few hours of game time, so if you come later, it'll probably be easier to come from the back side of campus.

I think it all depends on how big of a tailgating show you want. If you want the RV and all you will have too come alittle earlier for that too be accomplised. If you want a tent setup somewere, you have too contact the school too get that done.

But if you want too bring your grill and chairs and stuff there is plenty of places too setup. Just about anywere you can park your car (and some places you cannot) you can setup too tailgate. The advantage of doing it in the Parking Lot next too Trojan Areana, is they have free cable and electricity.

Parking in the lot on Tailgate Terrace (either side of University Ave.) is reserved for donors. In fact, the only "official" parking for non-parking permit holders is in the lots behind Smith and Long Halls; Behind Wallace, McCartha, and Adams Admin; between the Natatorium and Trojan Center; or at CHHS. Of course, you can always find a spot on some of the side streets. As for tailgating, I agree, just find you a quiet spot under a tree and enjoy. Or join one of the alumni groups next to Sartain.

The lot next too Smith is permit only, but i am guessing you are meaning back on collegedale street.

We always park next to Smith and set up on University Blvd. If you have trouble finding a place to set up, park and ocme by. We will be under a white canopy with Troy flags flying. We USUALLY have plenty of sustenance and libations to share...

Just pull your car up off University Avenue near the Pace or Trojan Warrior quads, around by the stadium and the National Guard armory, down by the Adams Center and track/soccer field. Cars are off the road everywhere.

There's always the GTT tent on George Wallace right by the stadium, next to the Alumni House.

E-mail me if you want to meet some people from this site and hang out. I'll give you my phone number.

Just be there!
