Does anyone know why in the world we still have last year's jerseys??? I mean, come on! We only have 12 players! Why didn't we get new digs with the new logo and all on them?
One good note--the new mascot wasn't there--that has to be a good sign!

That's a good question? Maybe the bball team has elected to remain Troy State until next season? I mean the school doesn't become Troy University until next August...so who knows? I noticed last night when watching SportsCenter that the scrolling scoreboard at the bottom said Piedmont/Troy St....and ESPN has been VERY good at calling us TROY this year (had one of the new helmets for Gameday Final right after the Mizzou game...to give Louissaint his sticker)...anyone know what's going on?

They haven't decided to stay Troy State! Dr. Hawkins has made it clear that he wants everything related to Troy to be referred to as Troy or Troy University. So it's not that. Maybe they are doing like the football team and waiting till a big game to unveil the new digs. We'll see. But I'll be emailing a couple people to find out what is going on.

I was disappointed, I was looking forward to new uniforms. You are probably right that they are waiting for a special occasion. Just let it be this year!

Coach Maestri told me they wouldn't be getting new uniforms this year. Maybe if we get in a bowl they could use some of that money to purchase some

Josh told me that it was a budget issue. I guess bball unis cost more than I thought. I just hope by next season we have new ones. He also said that baseball will be playing with the old unis too.
I guess that's ok, but where did they get the money for the new football helmets? Why didn't we have a little extra for basketball unis also?

That is insane! Troy doesn't have enough money to buy 12 or even 24 uniforms?!
They could easily get a sponsor to pay for that. Hell, we could have all chipped in here and bought the damn shirts and shorts.
It makes me crazy sometimes hearing of the reasoning for bonehead moves.

I don't see how it could break the bank for just 12 or 14 jerseys when we got new helmets for football and the patch to cover "Troy State." Really, all we need to get is shorts for basketball because that is the only place with "TSU" on it. If I email someone to buy the shorts, who's with me?

Remember one thing. Adidas makes the uniforms for the team. They are made overseas & at this point they could not be back here state side by the end of the season. The dock in California are jammed right now with the Holiday season & they are having labor issues out there.

I think you'd be shocked to find out how much basketball uniforms cost. My guess is that we're looking at 5 figures easily. Does anybody happen to know exactly what they'd cost?

The logo in the middle of the floor is still the old TSU helmet so why change the shirts.

Again, we're just talking about shorts here--that's the only thing with tsu on them.
The floor, now that's a different matter. That is so expensive it probably won't change. We'll just put the new logo on the new arena whenever that gets done.

About the uniforms. I asked coach Blakeney about the football unis. He said that the new script on the front was sewn on to cover up the old Troy State writing, they are actually patches. That's why the sleeves of the football unis still has the old TSU and helmet on them. Also, I was told that besides it being a budget issue, that some of the unis were still fairly new, they want to let get some age on them, at least that's what I was told.
Also, don't forget that, officially, this is the year of "implementation" meaning that it's a type of cross over year.
It won't be officially TROY until August 2005. I know that for a fact. Even the diplomas of all the students who graduate before August 05 says Troy State. The kicker is that for Alumni, they are offering a new diploma that will say Troy University...for a price of course.

Yeah that still means nothing - they had plenty of tie to get off their butts and get new uniforms - I mean we are talking abot 12 players, a home and away uniform. If we did it for Football? Why not basketball?
There is no excuse for it - its just the athletics dropping the ball on a sport that they really do not care about.

They didn't actually get the football team new unis. They modified them, by sewing on a patch. It didn't cost them very much.
And actually it would be 48. The girls need them too.
I guess that they view football as more of a revenue than any of the other sports. My question is what happens if we go dancing this year...as TROY?
They'll have to get new unis...won't they?
Good point though.

Unfortunatley no. This is done through Adidas retail sales division & the only ones that can see it are retailors.

I'm almost positive that the old basketball uniforms say trojans across the chest, not Troy State as the football unis did. Therefore, we should be okay. The old football unis still have the old helmet on the arm, so I dont really have a problem with the shorts having it on there not so prominently. However, come on, lets get something done about huge logo on the court. Pleeease! the changes were made for football because of the great exposure we were going to get paired with the amount of revenue that football creates.

You nailed D1...REVENUE is the favorite, friendly, tantalizing and orgasmic word that JH, DP, and SF like to hear.

The shorts on the unis is what has tsu and the old logo on them. That's what needs changing. What about the away jerseys..I think they say Troy State.
Anyway, the floor logo ain't changing anytime soon. You talking about expensive!!

I think they say Troy State too. I was trying to find a picture, but can't seem to find one. I think they should be changed as well. We are too football oriented sometimes, I think. (and yes, I know about the media coverage, revenue, etc that football brings in). Though, I do believe that the volleyball team's jerseys had the new Trojans logo on it. The soccer team was still in last years with the TSU and the helmet, I believe.
I don't know. I guess it's all just a part of this change that we're going through. It can't all happen overnight and it isn't "official" until August '05 so....?

well, I know the softball team just got new uniforms last year that have "Troy State" on it, and the old uniforms have "Troy State" on them...so I wonder if they'll get new ones AGAIN this year???!!
