Decatur offensive lineman Caleb Thomas joined his teammate and Crimson Tide verbal commitment Rolando McClain on a official visit to Alabama. Thomas talks about his visit and what the Alabama coaches have said about becoming a part of the Tide.

"The visit went good," said Caleb Thomas from Decatur, (Ala.). "Everything was great. They really treat you right down there. I really enjoyed the trip a whole lot."

"I like Alabama. First of all it's close. It's not far at all. I like the tradition they have. That tradition, the stadium and the facilities are so nice. The stadium really draws me in."

Thomas gives and in-depth play-by-play of his weekend experience in Tuscaloosa.

"Friday night I had a [basketball] game, so we didn't get there until really late," he said. "We got in our hotel room and talked to coach [Chris] Ball for a few minutes, then we went to bed."

"Saturday, we got up and went to practice Saturday morning. After practice we worked out. We went to eat lunch at Wings. We went to the basketball game and went to eat dinner at Kenny Stabler's restaurant, 12. It was really good. We went to my brother's house that night and we played video games. That's pretty much it. We didn't go out. We just chilled. We were both tired from the day."

"Sunday, we toured the academic facility called Bryant Hall. We talked to coach Ball and coach [Joe] Kines. We talked to them a whole lot during the visit. We know them well from them recruiting our area. We got on the road and came back. It was a good weekend. I had fun."

Thomas went on to mention his favorite parts of the visit, "The best part of my visit was probably being around all the guys in the locker room. It makes it real fun. I enjoyed that and being at practice. I enjoyed being up close to everything. The eating part wasn't bad either."

Thomas had a great visit to Alabama, but knows he will likely look elsewhere to play college ball.

"I really don't plan on going there [Alabama]. They are wanting me as a walk-on. I have offers from other schools like Arkansas State, Troy and Jacksonville State," Thomas said.

"I will probably end up going to one of those schools. I am not going to commit to any of those schools anytime soon. I am going to wait until the middle of January to see if any of the SEC schools have an offer."

Thomas plans to schedule official visits to Arkansas State and Troy.
