Dodge City (Kan.) Dodge City C.C. receiver Kenard Burton was planning on having a busy December with official visits, but he's decided to go ahead and end the recruiting process.

"I made a solid commitment to Troy late last week," Burton, a 5-foot-9, 175-pound three-star receiver, said.

"I had a couple of other visits scheduled, but I decided to cancel them. I'm pretty excited."

Burton, a December graduate, will get a shot at playing early at Troy.

"The system they run is wide open," Burton said. "They rotate a lot of receivers, and they're losing a lot of senior wide receivers. They're going to give me a good chance to play early and catch a lot of balls."

Burton was also recruited by Kansas, Kansas State and Iowa State. Burton had 55 receptions for 645 yards and three touchdowns as a sophomore.

That is good news! Burton should prove to be very beneficial and will reunite with Omar. Should bring some chemistry with he and Omar playing together already!

I also think that Troy will get several more commitments over the next two weeks with us making a bowl and winning the SBC championship. What do you think CF?

With winter signing day coming up in 2-3 weeks and the number of JUCO players that Troy recruits, I think a few more players will commit soon. I think that Troy's success this year might influence a few commitments, but I think that the impact in 2008 will be greater. This is a great pick up for the Trojans. Burton will work very well in this system. I am glad that Troy has good ties with Dodge City because a lot of talented JUCOs come from there.

I had to double check... Signing Day for mid-year JUCO grads is December 20th. That is when Kenard Burton, Tim Ward and maybe a few others will sign.

Dodge City would be a great pipeline... The have outstanding teams year in and year out.

It would be nice to also really get in good with NE Mississippi Community college (I know we get a bunch from there), but we just don't get the 'great' ones. Those go to Bama, MSU and Ole Miss. We have to do better than that.
