Dodge City (Kan.) Community College wide receiver Kenard Burton has been attracting attention from schools all football season. Now, the Pahokee, Fla., native is narrowing things down and is nearing a decision as the December signing period nears.
"I am still pretty high on Kansas State," the 5-foot-9, 175-pound Burton said. "I don't know when I'll make my decision. I'll take all my visits and see what my options are at that time. I've had some new schools kind of jump in on me lately."
The two new schools are Iowa State and Kansas.
"I've gotten calls from KU and Iowa State recently and they want me to visit. Iowa State is looking at having me in next weekend (Dec. 8) and KU is maybe looking at the next weekend. I already visited Troy State (Nov. 17) and I'm going to Kansas State this weekend."
Burton will be signing with his school of choice in December and will enroll in time for the spring semester.
"I am graduating in December," he said. "I'll get my decision made before long, but I don't have a favorite right now."
The Troy Trojans offense is one the three-star rated prospect believes he can fit in.
"The Troy visit was pretty good. I like the system there. They throw the ball a lot. That is the type of offense I would like, I think. I am going to look at the systems each of the schools have in place to help me make my decision."
Burton isn't concerned with the location of the school.
"It doesn't matter where I go. I just want to go somewhere where I can get the best chance to get to the NFL. I am being recruited as a receiver. I played defensive back last year. I'd rather be at receiver, but whatever the team needed is what I would do."
