Sun Belt Game of the Week

Arkansas State (5-5) at Troy (5-4) 7 PM EST GamePlan Saturday, November 18th
Why to Watch: Troy is deep in the hunt for the Sun Belt title with the showdown with Middle Tennessee coming up next week, but first, it has to take care of Arkansas State and officially knock the defending champs out of the hunt. With a problem getting the offense going over the last few weeks getting shut out in two straight games before losing 38-10 to Middle Tennessee, ASU has hit the skids going into a two-game road test to finish up. A seven-win season, and a possible bowl bid considering the NCAA rules that 7-5 teams get an invite over 6-6 teams, is a reasonable goal.
Why Arkansas State Might Win: The rushing attack has to get going again at some point, doesn't it? It finally got moving a bit against the Blue Raiders last week after taking two weeks off against Florida Atlantic and Auburn, and it should be able to rumble for 200 yards if Troy spends any amount of time worrying about the passing game. Reggie Arnold was able to crank out 115 yards and a score last week, and should be able to keep things moving as long as ASU doesn't abandon the run. Even if it's not there early, the offense has to stick with it; Troy can be worn down, but ...
Why Troy Might Win: ... the defensive front has been more active over the past few weeks. Georgia Tech and Nebraska were able to run amok thanks to offensive lines that shoved Troy all over the place, but the Sun Belt lines haven't been able to do as much. Stopping the pass has been the biggest problem over the last month giving up way too many big plays, but Arkansas State can't throw with the nation's least efficient passing attack.
Who to Watch: Troy QB Omar Haugabook is good for at least one interceptions game and his running has been erratic, but he showed off last week why he has the potential to carry the Trojans to big things over the next year with a 325-yard, three touchdown performance in the win over Florida Atlantic. He's been accurate, and occasionally efficient, as long as he doesn't turn the ball over. If he can keep the mistakes to a minimum, and establish the deep ball early, Troy's offense should roll.
What Will Happen: ASU's offense has struggled too much over the last few weeks to win a game like this. Troy will win setting up next week's showdown with Middle Tennessee for the Sun Belt title.

Shows how much they know. Arkansas State was officially knocked out of the hunt with that 38-10 loss to Middle Tennessee last weekend giving them their second loss in the conference. With only one conference game left and ZERO conference losses, Middle Tennessee is already guaranteed to sit ahead of Arkansas State.
