This is huge. Ricky McGee, a runningback from Tallahassee chose Troy today over offers from the SEC, Big 10, and Big 12.

Earlier this week the Lincoln Trojans had safety Mike Slade make his decision as the talented star for the Trojan secondary couldn't wait any longer as he selected the Auburn Tigers. Today FlaVarsity.com has learned that another Lincoln standout is ready to announce his college of choice?

It's really no secret that the Lincoln Trojans are loaded with arguably one of their best junior classes this season with potential game breakers like Deshaun Barnes, Brandon Paul, Tim Lamb, and Justin Footman.

Even so one the most pivotal parts of the Lincoln offense has to be Ricky McGee who really gives the Trojans a very dangerous one two punch with him and Brandon Paul.

"Ricky is just a great player that can do so many things for our offense. He is a tailback with tremendous speed in the open field, but at the same time he has the ability to run between the tackles as well, "added Lincoln head coach Kyle Rice.

Last year McGee showed off those skills as used his electrifying sub 4.4 speed to power the Trojans to yet another District Championship as the talented senior rushed for 449 yards on 46 carries, and 6 touchdowns.

"Ricky gives our offense an added threat because he can catch the ball out of the backfield really well, but at the same time if he gets a step between the tackles he is gone. So obviously we are thrilled to have him back once this year, "said Lincoln assistant coach Tony Collins.

With that kind of speed it should come as no surprise that McGee had a lot of options to explore when deciding what school could utilize his talents the most. With offers from schools like Illinois, South Florida, Kansas State, and Ole Miss the speed demon from Lincoln has decided to stay closer to home? "I committed to Troy just a little while ago.

That selection alone probably sent shock waves with some of the well known programs that had McGee at the top of their list, but for McGee the opportunity at Troy was just too hard to pass up?

"I really wanted to stay close to home so that was one of the main things that I looked at with Troy. Also, I want to major in Criminal Justice because I want to become a Police Officer and Troy offers a very good program for that, "said McGee.

On the gridiron while Troy might not be one of the nations elite. However, the chance to play against some of the top teams around the country is something you can't ignore either, and that was also important to McGee?

"I saw where they have Florida State on their schedule, but not only that they played LSU last year and played pretty good for a while in that game so yes that was a factor to know you are going against the top teams all around the country, "replied McGee. To go along with FSU the Trojans also have Georgia Tech, and Nebraska on the 2006 schedule.

Lincoln High has long been a favorite stop for college football coaches searching for talent. This spring hasn't been any different.

Tailback Ricky McGee and linebacker Karlin Brown decided on their futures Friday - McGee committed to Troy University and Brown committed to Mississippi State. The pair join teammates Michael Slade (Auburn) and Justin Footman (Marshall) as rising seniors who are looking to end the recruiting process early.

Commitments are non-binding, and National Signing Day is in February.

Brown anchored the Trojans' state winning 4x100 relay team as a freshman and was a member on this year's team, which placed third in the Class 3A FHSAA Finals behind Sarasota Booker and Miami Jackson. Brown, according to Lincoln football coach Kyle Rice, has been timed in the 100 meters at 10.7 seconds.

''Karlin is a very instinctive, physical player,'' Rice said.

McGee, one of the area's most versatile players, has clocked a 10.8 in the 100 meters. He is expected to join Brandon Paul and others in the backfield, giving the Trojans one of the state's most explosive offenses. Paul is ranked among the nation's most prized recruits and already has received more than 50 scholarship offers.

''Ricky is fast, elusive - he does everything for us,'' Rice said.

I think that he will keep to his word. The only exception to that would be if he were to get an offer from Florida State. Usually when a kid has his mind made up this early in the process, he knows what he wants to do.

@ CF: What do you think how many stars will he get from Rivals/Scout?

I have been wrong before (Cornelius Williams) but I think that he will get 3 stars. We will know for sure in a couple of weeks as rivals begin to rate prospects. He has a video on scout.com, and he can just fly right by people. On the first clip he runs right up the middle for 46 yards. The next clip has him running the ball about 70 yards before being pushed out of bounds by a corner who had a good angle. I think that he will work very well in Troy's new offense because of his ability to break a huge run.

I'm sure he should be a 3 star. But I wouldn't be surprised if Rivals gave him 2 stars because of his early commitment to Troy.
