Hoops season begins in two weeks and I haven't seen any publicity on the basketball team. Doesn't Troy play any exhibitions like most other Division I schools? How is the team looking in pre-season practice? Have their been any injuries? Who's going to step up and take Greg and Rob's spots as leaders on the team now that all 5 starters are gone?
I have heard that Corey and Eddie are looking pretty good so far. How's the new point guard doing? Is he close to being as good as Greg Davis? What would our starting 5 be if the season started today?

If I am not mistaken, the Trojans scrimmage South Alabama on the 14th.
I doubt anyone will be as good as Greg was last year, but I sure hope someone will step up and fill that role.
I would guess that Eddie Baker and Corey Hornsby would be definite starters. That new kid at point guard appears to be the real deal so I will include him in the starting five as well. Ryan Heck will probably start as well due to his experience from last year. I have no idea who the 5th starter would be. Any suggestions? :D

I tailgated with the basketball coaches this past Saturday before the FAU football game and they were talking about he scrimmage that they had last Friday against Samford up in B'ham. We didn't look too good and our point guard play is very suspect. Of course this was the first time for the new guys to play together but coach Felix and Ben Fletcher expressed a lot of concern for that area of the team. We also didn't shoot very well from the perimeter.

Although I don't like hearing such a negative report, I'm not quite as worried since we have such a great coaching staff. Maybe we played poorly--as you said--because it was their first outing with virtually a new team and everybody wanting to impress the coaches for playing time.
But I hate hearing the point guard spot is suspect since in my opinion that's THE most important position. How did the sophomore from Florida look? I guess we can always use Zavier at point, can't we?
Oh yeah, did you hear how we rebounded? That was my biggest concern going into the season.

They just said that we played poorly. Samford blew us out of the gym. They did say that Xavier might have to step up big if we can't find anyone else who can hold on to the ball and not turn it over so much. I didn't hear much about any of the other newcomers.

According to Maestri, we will shoot more 3's than ever before. We have no big man. That is a concern. We are going to be runnin and gunnin, that is for sure!!
It should be fun!

I remember Greg Davis was rather shaky during his first few games at Troy. I hope this is true for the current point guard. No offense to Zavier, he is not the guy we want at point guard.

Did the coaches mention anything about recruiting? I think we can sign kids during the early signing period tomorrow, can't we? Hopefully, we'll sign some big kids tomorrow.
