No O-Linemen. Only two D-Linemen. I hope LB has a couple of the big uglies up his sleeve. I know in this offense you don't have to block for long, but you do have to block. I think everyone would agree that Troy's offensive line was the weakest part of the team last year. I hope this need will get addressed before it's over.
Other than that. I give it two thumbs up.

We signed 6 OL last year. I was thinking the same thing, but it looks like we have it covered.

What's the story on this young man. Seems like he was all-world in Ozark. Did the big schools not recruit this guy? Based on his size, looks like he could be a real force.
Anyone have any inside scoop on him?

I don't know a lot about this kid but everything I do know is dynamite. He is listed as one of the top 250 players in the country this year by Max Emfinger. He had one game this year where he rushed for 321 yards. 283 of those yards came in the second half.

I think the offensive line will do just fine this fall. In fact, I think the whole team will come together and make the unbelievers believers. Now, I'm just a mother and I think we put so much pressure on these kids to be perfect. Yes, everyone wants to win, but when we lose, let's just chalk it up as a learning experience and move on. Football, just like the other sports, is just that...a sport. Oh, I know at this level, it gets real serious for some. But let's remember that these still are young men who are maturing on and off the field. And remember they are in school to better themselves....their education should be their first priority. Football is for entertainment. Somewhere, I think we have missed that notion. Let's encourage our young men to be the best on and off the field. Let's remember that when we make negative comments about any player, you are talking about someone's child. It could be yours. Go Trojans! Support our players and our coaches!

I was actually at that game when he rushed for over 300 yards. He is as good as he sounds. His coach (Ronnie Cottrell) told me that his grades weren't all that great and he might not be a qualifier. I don't know about his smarts, but he looked real good on the field. Although I don't recall seeing him catch a pass out of the backfield (a must in our new system), but why would they throw it to him when nobody can stop him running the ball!

sjc516,
If you are the mother of a current or future player, or even just an interested observer, I am certain you will find that Coach Blakeney agrees with your desire to not only have good players, but to also have good citizens and good students. Coach B. makes the team a family as best he can, and I think this shows each year with what you hear from each Senior Class.
IMHO, Coach Blakeney is about the most gracious and classiest guys around....just as a person, not withstanding how he compares to other coaches. Some have been critical of his loyalty, and I agree that the lines sometimes blur between friends, players and colleagues, but in the end I don't think there is anyone who can say anything bad about the man and how he treats his fellow man. I do believe he has the best interests of these young men in mind.
Welcome and keep posting!

Pace's Patrick commits to Troy
Scott Hotard
PensacolaNewsJournal.com
John Mark Patrick has made a name for himself as a running back, punishing rival defenders with a bullish running style.
Now, he seems ready to try life on the other end.
The Pace star has committed to play football next season for Troy, accepting the Alabama school's invitation to become a defensive player. He committed to the Trojans during an official visit last weekend, picking the Trojans over Louisiana-Lafayette, Tulane and Jacksonville State.
Patrick, who played his first three seasons in Jay, was among the area's top offensive players in 2005, earning all-state honors after rushing for 1,394 yards and 14 touchdowns.
The 6-foot-3, 230-pound senior was a part-time defensive end for Pace, but his value on offense limited his defensive snaps. He plans to make a permanent move to defense this fall.
"They recruited me as an outside linebacker," Patrick said. "That's fine with me. Honestly, I'd rather play defense. I think that's the place I'm built to play."
Patrick looks to become the second Pace player to sign with the Trojans in as many years, following former Patriots running back Anthony Jones. Pace has had four players continue their careers with the Trojans since 1992.
