TROY alumni in Florida, the country is in your hands. Those of us in Alabama, Louisianna, Mississippi, and Georgia need to vote as well, because it counts in public opinion about the popular vote and there are some important races in Georgia and Louisianna that will determine the Senate, but the country is in the hands of those of you in Florida.
Don't just go and vote, drag along your friends and help a neighbor get to the polls as well.
I have worked in the Senate and seen John Kerry and the Democratic Leadership in the Senate up close and too personal. Whether you are worried about judicial activism, getting your social security checks in twenty years, or having a strong economy that supports the American spirit of free enterprise, these guys are not the people you want leading your country.
Living in the South, many of us have been fooled by "conservative democrats" talking our values, but when you work in DC, like I did, you realize that "conservative democrat" is a dying, if not already dead, animal. The "Blue Dog" doesn't have any bark left. The Democrats in DC are not the ones you grew up with in the old South and they do not represent the family values, competitive spirit, or strong national security values that most of us share. Halloween for Kerry was a few weeks ago when he dressed up like a Goose Hunter in Ohio. If I dressed up like a President, it wouldn't make me the Commander-in-Chief. There is a twenty year record against free enterprise, gun rights, national security and intelligience, that Kerry can not hide from, no matter how elaborate his costume unless we let his camo fool us.
I'm not saying Bush is a saint, or that I agree with him on every issue, but I do agree with George Will's column today about the importance of electing "George, with all thy faults" because it is the alternative which is far more dangerous to our values, our strength, or our pocketbook.
VOTE and make sure everybody you know in Florida votes as well. Kerry took a poll to find out how to respond to bin Laden's latest video. We don't need to pass a global test or take a poll, we need Leadership and John Kerry is not up to the job.
