Handful of Grizzlies plan to sign Wed.

By LIONEL TIPTON Sports Editor
Six Butler sophomores who have made or are close to making their college choices will sign letters of intent Wednesday, Grizzlies coach Troy Morrell said this morning.

Cornerback Blake Bueltel was the latest to decide, giving an oral commitment to Kansas on Sunday. The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder will join another former Grizzly, Brian Murph, at KU. Murph, a junior, will be taking part with the Jayhawks against Houston on Friday in the Fort Worth Bowl.

Also expected to sign Wednesday - the first day Butler's winter graduates are allowed to sign - are offensive tackle Sherrone Moore with Oklahoma, wide receiver Anthony Parks with Oklahoma State, cornerback Elbert Mack with Troy State (Ala.), and safety Toddrick Verdell with Florida State. Defensive lineman Jeremy Geathers visited Nevada-Las Vegas this past weekend, and Morrell said he is likely to sign with the Rebels.

Other Grizzlies who have made their college choices include tailback Ryan Torain (Arizona State); defensive tackle Paul Griffin (Florida State); center Mike Davison, defensive lineman Perry Carr and fullback Josh Postin (Southwestern Oklahoma State); and offensive lineman Casey Larsen and defensive tackle Isaiah Burnette (Fort Hays State).

There are still some others who have yet to decide and who will graduate in the spring. Linebacker Vernon Smith is planning to take some recruiting trips next month, Morrell said. He also said that tailback Kenny Wilson plans to visit Tennessee and Florida before making a decision.

Jamario Kendrick just visited NCAA Division I-AA Prairie View A&M, and Morrell said he is likely to sign there. Safety Jonathan Warren is down to Florida State or Clemson, Morrell said, and offensive lineman Jarrod Hunt is considering Washburn and NCAA Division II schools.
