Letter to Baseball Season Ticket Holders from AD John Hartwell

Dear Troy Baseball Season Ticket Holder:

On behalf of the Troy Athletics Department, I would like to thank you for your support of Troy Baseball through your purchase of season tickets. We are excited about the season that opens Friday versus Northern Kentucky. Coach Bobby Pierce, his staff, and our baseball student-athletes are working hard to help us stay atop the Sun Belt Conference and advance once again to NCAA Tournament play.

As we continue to try and optimize the fan experience for our patrons, you will notice some enhancements when you attend baseball games this spring. Among the changes is that our fans that are 21 and above will have the opportunity to purchase beer inside the stadium. The decision to institute beer sales comes after having conducted extensive research and studies of other collegiate programs that have implemented alcohol sales in an effort to increase fan amenities. Troy will become the eighth out of 10 Sun Belt Conference members to sell alcohol in its athletic venues, including in-state rival South Alabama, which has had alcohol sales at its athletics venues for 10+ years.

Policy highlights that will guide our beer sales include:
Fans who are 21 years of age or older who wish to purchase, consume, or carry beer from the concession stand to the stands must get a wristband at the ID station in the stadium.
The beer will be 16 oz. cans that will be poured into a cup by the vendor (Sodexo).
Customers will be allowed to purchase up to two beers at a time.
Beer sales will be cut off at the middle of the 7th inning.
Security personnel in the stadium will be checking to ensure there is not alcohol consumption by individuals who do not have the proper wristbands.

The addition of beer sales to our concessions menu is part of our continuing plan to add fan amenities to enhance the game-day experience. As this is a new initiative, our game-day staff will closely monitor implementation to assure a smooth launch. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your support of Troy Baseball. I look forward to seeing you at Riddle-Pace Field soon.

John Hartwell
Director of Athletics
