Looking at the UCF crowd, How many would we have there?

Considering tickets start at $100, that eliminates half of our alumni.

Game is in Phoenix and you can't drive there in one day eliminates 3/4th of the rest.

Last bit of maybe attendees choose between TMTDM and watching Barn/Bammer on TV.

We might have 1,000 there - and that's a stretch.

There would be a good crowd there... Winning brings out the band wagoners. Especially a BCS game

UCF has been Div I how long??? O' Leary has been head Coach how long???

Recruiting in a state with 3 teams (FSU, UM, UofF) of BCS status and several others with FBS status??

And Troy's been at it over 100 years?? What's missing here???

Gad, congrats UCF Knights... totally dominated #4 ranked Baylor on both sides of the ball. Great coaching, great O and D coordination, great game plan!!

Exciting Bowl Season to say the least!

They have very physical practices and it shows in their play. UCF will be a major force, great facilities, 60,000 students and in Orlando. Yep, no talent in Orlando south :laughing021: why should we bother looking down there.

What's missing here is 50,000 ACTIVE, ON CAMPUS students. With UCF's enrollment of 58,000 plus, that's the difference in their student body vs ours. For Pete's sake, UCF's enrollment is less than 10,000 shy of Dothan's total POPULATION. These kind of numbers make a huge difference in ability to pour money into a program.

Using that logic shouldn't we only recruit the state of Alabama? The home of the previous 3 national champions. I wonder if there is more to sell a south Florida recruit on in Orlando and at UCF than in Troy Alabama? Also if you have 20% of those classes giving back to the university that would mean 12000 for UCF and 1400 for Troy. Easier and quicker to grow with those numbers.

They don't just recruit Florida but the vast majority of their players are ones that got overlooked by the SEC and others. Blake Bortles wasn't even hardly recruited out of HS, now he is the #2 rated QB in the country. You have to see the school to believe it, 60,000 students, almost everything new, indoor practice facilities, every UCF athlete stays in dorms across from the practice facility. Yes, they have a ton to offer but they can't sign every player down there. Now 60,000 students paying a $100 fee (it is much higher, I pay it every semester..$35 per hr) that generates $6,000,000. They are a force with everything they have....there is still plenty of talent for the taking...remember Miami-Dade metro alone is bigger population wise than all of Alabama. As far as the comparison to UCF vs Troy? Depends on the player. Not every kid wants a school the size of UCF, or maybe they want playing time early? Every player is different, you can't lump them all in together. We got players years ago from down south even when UCF was D11 also. Never know, depends on each individual player.

My son is a student there, this fall they exceeded 60,000 total students, second largest in the country behind Arizona State.

......and we're not the largest school in Alabama nor Florida (as they are at over 60,000) so that might mak a tad of difference as well.

Location, location, location.

Troy, Alabama vs. Orlando, Florida

Is further explanation needed?
