BARCELONA, Spain The Troy men's basketball team has enjoyed tremendous success during its first three games in Spain, going 3-0 and averaging nearly 85 points per game along the way.

"The guys are really playing hard, competing and sticking together," said head coach Phil Cunningham. "We threw a lot of new things at them in the 10 days of practice before the trip and they have responded well."

"Our coaching staff has been impressed by the togetherness of our team so far on the trip," said Cunningham. "The guys seem to enjoy being around each other and look to do things as a group. After breakfast today, they all rented bikes and rode down to the sea, which is probably a 15-20 minute ride. They had to be pretty tired from the previous two nights' games, but it was good to see them choose to get out of the hotel as a team and enjoy checking out such an exciting city. Hopefully that togetherness will carry over to the court."

So are these universities or local club teams?

As I understand it, Europe doesn't really have a lot of "university" basketball programs. Most of the programs are essentially "prep school" programs and can develop some serious talent with 4 years of eligibility in the USA. Great trip for our kids and smart recruiting opportunity.

4-0 On the road!!!

GRAN CANARIA, Spain The Trojans came out firing on Wednesday night, taking a 40-12 lead into the half and never looking back, trouncing CB Gran Canaria U20 83-33 in their fourth game of the summer.

"Tonight was by far our best team performance of the trip," said head coach Phil Cunningham. "The opponent was a younger team that had plenty of size and talent, including a couple of 6'10" players. It was good for us because this team was organized and knew what they wanted to do on both ends of the floor, as opposed to the games in Barcelona against a collection of semi-professional players. For a college team, we are an older and experienced group, and it showed on the court tonight."
