Call Us UAB! (pronounced: you-AB...a la John Longshore)

Please note that there are only two correct
versions of our name, the acronym “UAB,”
or the full “University of Alabama at Birmingham.”
In addition, the Associated Press
sports stylebook now uses UAB on first reference,
not Alabama-Birmingham.
We are not:
Alabama-Birmingham,
Ala.-Birmingham, or U.A.B.
The University of Alabama at Birmingham
(UAB) has been an autonomous member
of the University of Alabama system since
1969, and has had an intercollegiate athletic
program since 1977. UAB is sometimes confused
with the University of Alabama (Crimson
Tide), which is located in Tuscaloosa;
while this is inevitable, it is important to
note that the two are indeed separate institutions.
In addition, the UAB name is often
altered by various media, opponents, merchandisers,
etc.

pretty pathetic when you have to inform people what you are supposed to be called.

Ohhhh that hurt....not. I guess you forgot we just changed our name to Troy University a few years back and its not the only one we have had. We can understand if people haven't caught on yet, since we haven't had the same name since the 1960s. So if that was insult it was pretty pathetic, back the drawing board buddy. I expected much more from the highly educated DFARR, so maybe the next insult will be a little more effective. ;)

Why does UAB even have a football team? Seriously, they can root for the main campus. To me it's like Troy-Montgomery wanting to have football:laughing021:

"Troy State" doesn't bother me at all.

Troy-Montgomery could have the nickname "Senators" since AUM changed over to "Warhawks" Huntingdon is pretty good though, might want to find a few cream puffs to play starting up the program before they bite off more than they can chew.

I'm trying to get past the part where is says, "UAB is sometimes confused with The University of Alabama". :rollinglaugh:

That's not even remotely possible.

Sometimes the child's name is associated with the parent... and UAT IS Alabama-Birmingham's daddy. So, it's not too impossible.
