UT Arlington will accept an invitation to join the Sun Belt Conference as soon as this week, pending approval of the move by the University of Texas Board of Regents, which will take up the motion in a meeting Thursday in Austin.

The board is expected to grant university officials the authorization to accept the agreement and finalize terms for membership, according to a memorandum outlining the meeting.

UTA would begin play in the 12-team Sun Belt in the fall of 2013. Starting in July it will join the Western Athletic Conference for a single year after competing as a member of the Southland Conference since 1964

The school will not be assessed an exit fee by the WAC............

Wow. What a powerhouse.

Super conferences, money, greed, and TV have ended college football as we know it.

I think UTA is a good replacement for Denver and believe they will compliment UALR for a better balance in the olympic sports.

While UTA does not play football they fielded some good athletes in the other sports this year. The Mens Basketball did make a trip to the NIT this year. I remember hearing someone say when it was first mentioned they where a SBC canidate to compliment UALR (to even out teams) that UTA had better than a Dozen track and field athletes qualify for the NCAA's.
