I have been looking for info on this kid. There seems to be no info on rivals (just his height and wieght) and not much info at all on him on ESPN and they have rated as a 40 (have not evaluated i think).

But according to the TroyTrojans.com release this kid had a pretty good year:

Named first team all-state and the Florida 6A Defensive Player of the Year his senior season … Helped lead Melbourne to a 9-3 record and a trip to the second round of the Florida 6A Playoffs as a senior … Played in back-to-back Florida Athletic Coaches Association North-South All-Star Games … Recorded 106 tackles (66 solo), 14 sacks, 17 tackles for loss (121 yards), two fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles as a senior

Am I missing something here or is Melbourne just in the middle of nowhere and nobody has evaluated him?

He looks (stat wise) like a great pick up for us!

Rivals had mentioned this about him in the FACA all star game a while back as follows "and under-the-radar defensive end Jamal Stadom from Melbourne. "

BTW there is highlight videos on Youtube for him.

His brother, Marty, signed with TROY las year, but didn't qualify out of juco...Drew thinks he's been getting his class work done and the brothers are getting the band back together...

***Melbourne, Fla., defensive end Jamal Stadom appeared to have a good visit based on his facebook posts, but I don't yet see confirmation of a commitment. Looks like his brother is Marty Stadom, who signed with Troy last year from JUCO, but didn't qualify to enroll last fall.

I didn't know what ever happened to Marty, but perhaps he finished his schoolwork in JUCO and is now at Troy. He wasn't listed on the midyear signees, though. Just check out this tweet (https://twitter.com/#%21/Real_wavey/status/163507905864286210). That makes it seem like both brothers will be at Troy playing in the fall, but we might just not find out until Wednesday.

“Today is one of the biggest days for the Stadom family,” said Marty Stadom Sr., dad of Melbourne High defensive lineman Jamal Stadom. Stadom signed with Troy University. “We’re so proud of this guy. It’s just a wonderful blessing.”

Stadom will join older brother Marty, a former Bulldogs defensive star, at the Alabama school.

Great quote! You have to be just as proud of their parents as you are of these young men! Again...great recruiting job by the coaching staff.

Yep, seems like the staff did a super job with this recruiting class and hopefully time will support that. It sure seems like they got what they needed to turn things around should everything work out for the best.

@Wesuck.com When I played at Palm Beach Gardens High School in Florida the Visitors side were always emptier than the home side. Most students did not travel to away games like they do in other states (Like they do here in northeast TN) At PBGHS we did not have the biggest stadium (Bigger now since school was rebuilt). Let's put it this way This year alone I watched a High school Football game here in TN that had 10K(or very close to it) in the stands. The biggest crowd I ever played in front of was when we played Jupiter High(at the time our biggest rival Pre William T Dwyer era) at around 3k. So Yeah he would have been at home at FAU but why would he go there? Like UAB they are the aluminum out specialists of the SUNBELT!

At least UA's B team has swallowed it's pride and covers up 3/4ths of it's stadium with giant tarpons. some with scary Dragons on them. MTSU is the undisputed champion of aluminum.
