Apparently, there is a conspiracy to keep me (and many others in central and south Florida from watching ANY Troy games this year. What in the hell is going on?
DirecTV's GamePlan channel has the Troy at LSU game listed for 8 p.m. (eastern). It's bad enough that they want $25 to watch one stinking game, but the listing also notes the game will only be available to Lousisiana subscribers!
Why would they make the game available only to people who can drive to the freaking stadium?! It ought to be the other way around.
Someone please explain this to me! Why could I see more Troy games when the Trojans were in I-AA and covered pretty regularly by Fox?
Please, Troy U. execs, fix this TV problem so people outside of Alabama (and in this case Louisiana) can see our team.
Damn, this is frustrating.

I know this may not be the best solution but they do carry the game via the internet. Just go to espn.com and click on gameplan...you can watch the game online..the picture and sound are great..plus its 19.99 and you can watch not only the Troy game..but every game until the night is over with

Greetings...
I think you've clicked on the pay per view link for TigerVision, which is only on in La. Click the link on Directv Channel 773, that is the ESPN feed, you can get that in FL.
Good luck and enjoy the game.
I know this does not help your situation BMII, but this is a side effect of FREE TV Broadcasting the Game into air over AL., GA., & FL.. Alot of stations are starting to show games that are not even in their area. If schools would start putting all the small stations that purchased the rights to the game on a list. It would really help out alot of people that can veiw games they do not know they can. For example I would bet New Mexico & North Texas neither show anywhere to their fans that they will be broadcasted out of UPN 67 in Montgomery, Al. today. Here is UPN67 lineup out of Montgomery for the remainder of the year.
UPN 67 UPCOMING GAMES
Oct. 23: New Mexico State vs. North Texas,
Oct. 30: UL Monroe vs. North Texas,
Nov. 6: CIAA Championship (West vs. East),
Nov. 11: Utah State vs. Arkansas State,
Nov. 13: TROY UNIVERSITY vs. UL Lafayette,
Nov. 13: Idaho vs. North Texas,
Nov. 18: North Texas vs. Arkansas State,
As far as Troys game today the best I can tell you is "I was told it was going to be aired by a few CBS affiliates that Service they areas where most of the players are recruited from."
On a personal note I know I have taken my Direct TV with me only to have the game blocked because the address I have it registered in was in the FREE view territory.

I am new to DirecTV, are you saying that the ESPN GamePlan version of this game will be blacked out in Birmingham since UPN68 is showing that game? I haven't ordered yet.
Thanks...

Not necessarily the most honest method but you can call Directv and "change" your address to an area that's not blocked out and then afterwards change your address back. That's what I had to do when I first moved to Mobile because Directv didn't offer Mobile locals so I had my physical address as a bogus address in Birmingham and the billing address as my Mobile address so I could at least have Birmingham locals.

That is generally the case because the TV station pays for the rights to air the game and the only way they can make their money back is through the commercials. If Direct TV allows you to view the game without the local commercials then why would someone want to by the local commercial space.

I checked Channel 773 on DirecTV. It only shows a listing for UF-Miss. State.
The GamePlan coverage map on ESPN.com says the Troy game will be available to every state but Louisiana. So then why in the hell would DirectTV Channel 780 be insisting the game would be shown ONLY IN Louisiana. The exact words: "Troy St. @ LSU Only available in State of LA".
I now wonder whether the programming execs have gone insane, or whether there was a misprint and they meant to say it would be on everywhere but Louisiana.
I am pissed off now.
Edit: DirectTV's Web site is showing the game to be telecast on Channels 773 and 780. I am going to try and order it on 773. Still, $20 is a lot to pay for a game that people in Alabama and north Florida are seeing for freaking free!
Edit No. 2: DirecTV allowed me to order the game. I even got a confirmation e-mail. So I suppose Channel 780 IS for LSU's telecast. Channel 773 must be the non-blacked out telecast.
Go Troy! Shock the Bayou!

Here in Jacksonville I use Comcast for television and internet access and we seem to get the gameplan like the rest of the country. $20 is tough to watch one game but it is the Trojans so I figure it is like buying a ticket.
Let's hope for a good showing and maybe a win. We need it!
