Another wild and wacky day in Sunbelt play. We need to do some scoreboard watching.

Really, only 3 games today will have affect on us going to New Oreleans:

1. Ark State at ULL. We need ULL to win so Ark State will have no chance of going to New Orleans if they run the table. Better to go ahead and take the long shot out. Only bad thing is if Arky State quits playing with passion because they are out of the NO Bowl hunt, then they might not play their best against North Texas later on and we may need that.

2. ULM and FAU. If ULM wins out they go to NO. We need FAU to win today to go ahead and take them out too, but with the same concerns mentioned above.

3. NMSU vs North Texas. Choose your poision here boys and girls. Too bad they can't both somehow lose. However, I think today, we should root for NMSU. North Texas needs to go ahead and get a loss on them. I think it would be far more likely for North Texas to lose just one of their last 4 against ULL, Idaho, ULM, and Ark State and for NMSU to lose one against FAU, USU, MTSU, and FAU, than for North Texas to lose two out of their last four.

Everyone is still in the bowl picture, although some of us are hanging by a thread. We can put out the rest of the teams still alive because we play them over the course of the next 4 games. Of course, anything less than 4-0 over the last part makes this all a moot point. As soon as we drop our next conference game or when North Texas wins it's next 4 conference games in a row, we're officially out (so is everyone else in the North Texas scenario).

We need to play LSU tough today. Give them a fight. People will be watching. There might be an outside chance at a bowl if we finish 7-4, it's slim, but at least we could "keep hope alive" and keep dangling that out there for our seniors. Heaven knows they deserve something.

You are dead on with all of those scenarios. Here's to hoping that those teams will lend us a helping hand today.

Well, a little help today so far.

I'll be keeping close score of the N. Texas-NMSU game.
