League would stretch from CA to FL... RT @DanWolken: I'm hearing San Jose State wants to get in the Sun Belt.

I couldn't see that happening. The travel would kill them and I don't think the non-revenue teams will travel that far. You get complaints from the other sports now about Denver.

I completely agree from the travel standpoint. The only way I can see it being feasible is if the Sun Belt had a dramatic expansion & created East/West divisions.

The East-West would work but it needs to be from Texas in. I could see a La Tech, North Texas as far West with a App. State to the East.

I agree that adding San Jose St makes no sense. I want to point out, however, in addition to Denver, New Mexico St was a member of the Belt when football became a conference sport. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember that a week after beating Missouri at VMS we laid an egg vs New Mexico St. Soon after, they left the Belt for MWC or some other western non AQ. The fact that they were members doesn't mean it makes sense to add San Jose St, but if the conference took a team from that far west once, who's to say it won't do the same again. With Wrong Waters at the helm, who knows what will happen.

You are correct on NM State being in the Sun Belt at the start. Even worse was the Univ. of Idaho was also in it, that was a really long road game for the Belt teams. Both went into the WAC I believe because of the travel. I can only see a La Tech, Ga. State, or App. State joining along with Alabama-Mobile..I mean USA.

I don't doubt this... Waters is just stupid enough to add them...

The only benefit from adding San Jose State would be that the conference would have both the Spartans and Trojans. That'd be cool. Aside from that the travel expenses alone would be a deal breaker. I say no to any team west of UNT...

Well, there are two sets of Trojans in the conference now.....Troy and UALR. When they say Trojan War....it is a Trojan War.....just not on the football field.
