To start a discussion about a new AD. He knows Troy and has been heard to have said that he thinks we are going into the right direction with our program. Do you think he could be lured away from the 'Ramblin Wreck'? Also he will be on campus for the reunion of the 1984 championship team in two weeks. Sounds like a golden opportunity to me :D Any thoughts?

not a bad idea except he is in his first or maybe second year in coaching at GT. So i doubt we would be able to get him.

I don't think that he'd leave a more high-profile position as the head coach at Tech where he has the Jackets headed in the right direction to go to Troy to be the AD. Maybe after his football coaching days are over he might, however.

I know him now and knew him well when he coached at Troy. I do not think he would put up with the politics at Troy at this stage in his career. He would have to have complete control and JH and the boys will not allow that to the extent he would require. Going from JW to a guy like Chan is like moving from a '89 Taurus to a new Escalade. We will find someone within our reach and within our financial means but it will not be that calibre of guy.

with one thing you said "theman." Chan won't be coming to Troy as AD. I know Chan as well and have for years--since he was at Troy. He has no AD experience and isn't qualified for the job. He is a football coach--and a dang good one. But not AD. Personally, I think we are going to have a hard time finding someone the caliber of Johnny Williams. I think we can, but it won't be easy.
Just look at the list of accomplishments he had while at Troy. Incredible. But we can't settle for just anyone. We can't settle for someone like Roger Schultz. What a disaster that would be. We need someone with AD experience or Senior Associate AD experience at a D-1 school. I have confidence that the search committee will hire a very qualified candidate.
