Interesting read...

"Two things the Sun Belt Conference has going for it: itís in the right part of the country for college football, and its teams are sufficiently obscure that they arenít likely to be targets of raids from other conference ó although Troy has decent numbers of fans."

Surf Report:
Wind waves should continue in the waist high range.

Forecast: Wind waves will back down tomorrow and nothing but small wind waves for the rest of the week.

That's kinda a backhanded compliment, but I'll take it.
I'm glad to see those numbers. Pretty awesome that TROY outranks the MAC and WAC. GO TROJANS!! :thumb:

I think it is pretty straight forward comment. He is comparing the #'s to other schools in WAC, MAC, M West, and CUSA (and Some of the AQ-BCS Schools). I think he's really complimenting us.

Looks like a compliment to me too.

Yeah, where are those 381,000 fans on Gameday. Sure not in Troy, AL!

But those 381k fans represent people who follow Troy. Based on this, Troy has a bigger fan base than every school in Conf USA except Cent Florida.

I can assure you the CTU fans do not believe these story one bit. I bet they are all writing the New York Times right now.

Hemi, please read Game Smack post...this new low for "Harvard of the South"...although Harvard probably, most likely have more fan.

Harvard has more students than MUTS has fans. No doubt. Lol

That bit of humor aside, I do want to point out that while the intent of the article is good for our egos, convincing to our eyes, and complimentary to Troy, I have to say that I, like other readers of that article, believe the data is flawed. If you read how the sample was taken using some interesting assumptions and tv market data, you might agree with me that this article would not be published in any academic journal. The data is just not solid enough to support the author's claims. I could go into detail, but I would bore people.

Sorry to be Danny Downer. I feel that we need to keep some perspective about the whole conference realignment scenario. :bounce012:
