Dear Trojan Family,

**We're holding a reunion to celebrate Track/XC Coach John "Doc" Anderson and reunite his _1968-1979_ teams!!!**

This reunion will take place during Troy Homecoming Weekend 2011.

As of today, we have about 100 of Doc's former athletes connected.

All archives collected from Athletics Media Relations and the Track/XC Files are currently being scanned: these will be placed on a DVD and presented to all of "Doc's Dudes" at our gathering.

SPECIAL NOTE: Many of our Throwers came from the football ranks. Please holler at me, Gentlemen!

THANK YOU for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Donna,
I got the message that you had called, but I hadn't had a chance to call back yet.
I've been in California since 1980 (sent by the military [Air Force officer] and I stayed). Have worked for Boeing (or it's corporate predecessor McDonnell Douglas) since 1984, in Long Beach. Now I fly often to St. Louis, Seattle, Philadelphia, places like that for business meetings.

I was an official for U.S.A. Track & Field for many years, officiating at most home meets for UCLA, Southern Cal, Long Beach State, etc., and an occasional national championship.
I got to talk to John Creer (Coach Creer!) a couple of times when he brought his team to the Div. II National Champs out here in California.
Mostly I was a judge on throwing events- quite a difference from my 800m days at Troy! But I enjoyed it.
Now I'm "retired" from track officiating.

I have no idea how Gary got my number. Haven't run into him since 1977!

I'll try to give you a call, perhaps tomorrow.

P.S.- I went to the football bowl game in San Jose a few years ago when Troy came out to California- it was in the rain and Troy lost, but it was a mini-blast from the past to root for the Trojans again and hear the 'Sound of the South' do their thing.

I still have trouble not saying 'State' after Troy.

THANKS, Mike. Charlie O forwarded some good ones in the past two days! ...getting ready soon to burn the master DVD of all our archives collected from trips to Troy AND forwarded by Doc's athletes and others during the last eighteen months.

At the Reunion, we'll be sure to get a photo which includes Rick Stetson, too, and then we'll have ALL the Head Coaches in Troy/State University Track history represented except dear Coach Nick Costes!

...think I'll post a _great_ photo of Costes next ... so folks'll see some more wonderful 'history' of this sport.

What a lot of younger Trojans don't realize is that our tracksters were competing at NCAA Levels LONG before the University moved to the association/designation as a whole.

HI JAMES!

Welllllllll, '128' to be exact as of today ... to include e-mail & snail mail addresses, phone numbers, etc. Not an easy feat considering it's been 30-43+ years for Doc's athletes (1968-1979). We worked initially from a small database, the 2009 Troy Alumni Directory, and then I started "pounding the pavement", i.e., the Internet, with names listed in Track & Cross Country Media Guides and our Records/Results books dated years 1962-87, photos, etc. A huge problem encountered is that many folks have relinquished their land line phones in favor of cell phones~ I would forward snail mail notification in those instances.

**BTW, a GOOD reason for all university/college alumni to stay current with one's alma mater/s ~ you never know who's looking for you!**

JAMES! SHOULD I/WE KNOW YOU? My apologies if you're a Doc athlete and we've not connected yet. Holler at me ~ my contact information's shared on the first page of our Album/my User Profile page.

We have over 90 people registered at this time for THE DOC REUNION (deadline Nov. 4), coming from points all throughout the US, and WE'RE EXCITED! As far as we know, Troy/State Track's never entertained a reunion before ... and we aim to make this a GREAT one! Doc and his guys ROCK!

PERHAPS WE'LL HEAR FROM YOU!? Have a BLESSED fall season.

I never ran track at the collegiate level, however, I did in High School in mid-80s, and on three occassions I ran meets at Troy (2-mile, 1-mile, 880yd). Dr. Costes ran the 2-mile races with us in High School, and often placed in the middle of our packs (probably not to get in the way of the leaders, and he always shook hands with, and encourage every participant. I've always thought that was pretty cool

I thought I'd share of Doc's former student-athletes who still hold individual All-Time Outdoor Records. All these gentlemen and many more will be in Troy this weekend for THE DOC REUNION. BE ON THE LOOKOUT!

THE DOC REUNION was a success!!!! Doc and his guys had SUCH a good time that we're going to convene again in two years!! Bear in mind that it had been **40** years since some of the gentlemen had seen one another! This was the first reunion ever of Coach John "Doc" Anderson and his athletes, years 1968-1979.

Below are just a few of the photos we captured. I'll include links for many more ... and we're still rounding up photos from the gentlemen/wives and our Troy University contacts.

THANK YOU, EVERYONE, TROY Athletics, Alumni Affairs, TROY Sodexo Catering, Communications, the Troy Hampton Inn, and numerous others for your contributions towards this successful gathering!
