Q – What plans are in the works to bring more big name opponents to Troy? – Kris F. in Greenville, Ala.

A – One of the biggest challenges of any Athletics Director is football scheduling. We work every day on our football schedule for future seasons. Iowa State bought out of the game they were scheduled to play here next year, paying $150,000 not to come. Getting teams like Missouri to come to Troy is very difficult, and winning that game has made the job even tougher. We are, however, in serious dialog with both Fresno State, Wyoming and Louisiana Tech for home and home series, and hope to have at least one of those finalized in the very near future.

Looks like they cahsed out of the game next year in fear of what happened to Mizzou.

We saw that one coming a mile away. It will be tough for us to get anyone outside the Sun Belt to come here now.

Buzz Phillips told me back in June that Iowa State was trying to buyout - I guess after seeing us beat Mizzou they made their decision. A home and home with Fresno State would be great, however.

For the most part, any out of conference home games in the future will come from the WAC, Mountain West, CUSA, and the MAC. We might never see another "Missouri" play in the Gallery ever again, unless we do one of the infamous 3 for 1 deals.
