TROY earns national accreditation for social work

TROY – Troy University’s undergraduate program in social work has been reaffirmed by the Council on Social Work Education.

The accreditation by the national organization is good for eight years, and covers programs on the Troy, Dothan and Phenix City campuses.

“The reaffirmation bestowed upon us by the Council on Social Work Education is a strong testament to the quality and academic integrity of our undergraduate social work programs on the Troy, Phenix City and Dothan campuses,” said Dr. Damon Andrew, dean of the College of Health and Human Services.

“The reaffirmation process included a thorough analysis of our program mission and goals, explicit and implicit curriculum, and assessment process, and the independent review concluded that our social work program and its faculty belong among the most elite programs in the nation,” he said.

The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) is a nonprofit national association representing more than 3,000 individual members, as well as graduate and undergraduate programs of professional social work education. Founded in 1952, this partnership of educational and professional institutions, social welfare agencies, and private citizens is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation as the sole accrediting agency for social work education in the United States.
