Ask the AD is up on troytrojans.com
I bet next month's addition will be MUCH more interesting than this months. If we even have an AD then.
Assuming Williams leaves, how bout we make Blakeny the AD, Give Koening the head coaching job and go find a young QB coach at a school that has an offense (like Boise State or Purdue or Texas Tech or something) and make them OC?

Let's not forget one example of why this won't work. Everyone remembers Mike Dubose being a very good coordinator, but turn that around and tell me how he did as a head coach. If Blakney decides to move on, then Troy needs to look at a "Head" coach. Then again, I'm not going to say he needs to or what not, but we did get rid of alot of our coaching staff once before because of these very problems. Maybe the actual problem needs to be looked further into instead of throwing temporary patches at the problem. Find what it takes to FIX the problem. And this is one of those problems you can't just toss money at to fix it. Find those players that are willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done and play them.

I think the people who read this missed one of the more important Q&A's that popped up.
Q – Why can’t students at Troy-Dothan or other Troy campuses get into sporting events at Troy with our school ID’s? – L.G. in Dothan, Ala.
A – On August 5, 2005, Troy University will become "One Great University" and, at that time, all Troy campuses will come under one umbrella. Currently, students at Troy-Dothan and other campuses do not pay a student fee for athletics like students on the Troy campus do. Next August, all Troy students will have the same ID cards giving them access to athletic events on the Troy campus.
The line that JW left off was: Since all Troy students will get the same ID cards giving them access to athletic events, then all of them will have to pay an athletic fee. At least that's how I read it. Now if this fee is applied to ALL of one great univerisity and we get the fees from the overseas students and everywhere else, then we're about to have our pockets full. Troy will have a constant stream of revenue set aside soley for athletics. I don't have the numbers on fees and stuff, maybe a current student can tell us how much they pay for athletic fee. But if that same fee is charged to EVERY student in the Troy University system, then LOOK OUT! Money won't be an issue any longer for us and we can pay whatever we want to whoever we want and finish the stadium and get the basketball arena and whatever else. The sky maybe the limit...

Umm...If I remember correctly...my bill this semester had a 108$ "Activity Fee"
But that pays for all the UAC things and such...I'm not sure how much of that 108$ goes to athletics...

about 60%, or $320k per semester(less during spring and summer. The new fee will be charged to all 20,000 plus Troy students but will not be at the $108 per student rate. Last discussion I was involved in, they were looking at $45 to $50. At that rate and with athletics getting 60%, their take would go up to $567k. Better, but not making our pockets full. The program still loses over $1.5 million a year so we are just getting back to breakeven. However, my guess is that JH will funnel more than 60% to athletics and don't forget, they will have to offer some activities at the other locations to keep the smell down.

Good post from theman! Sounds like you know what you are talking about. I wasn't sure what kind of numbers we were dealing with so I got a little too excited a little too early on this one, but it looks like the groundwork is in place. Most athletic departments do operate in the red, but it's good that we are going to be that close to breaking even.
Also, don't forget, we'll be getting some cash off of the New Orleans bowl from the conference (whether we go or not) and once we are in the Sunbelt in basketball, maybe the league can have a chance to get some multiple bids and win some games in the NCAA tourney and get mega $$.
I guess the real money comes from alumi donations. That should be an area really stressed by the new AD.

of the athletic department's budget, they need to get us a product on the field that we can be excited about. They had everything clicking going into the third week before they let the wheels fall off... They better get this back on track soon. Losing games and an athletic director could start a bad snowball effect that I am not prepared to see.
Blakeney, I love you man, but you gotta stop filming those corny commercials long enough to get your coaches and kids ready to play!
