Victory? You've seen the replay 100 times and you have the gaul to call it a victory? The ONLY reason you won is because your third rate program only had one camera angle and an idiotic officiating squad. But then again I would expect nothing less from a classless A-Hole like yourself BlazerUnit. Enjoy your one so-called win for the season and enjoy watching Troy in the post season. And beware September 10th when the Blazers come to Troy, their will be plenty of cameras and NO mercy.

Victory? You've seen the replay 100 times and you have the gaul to call it a victory?
Actually, Trojan record books will have it marked as a loss. But don't worry, Trojan coloring books will probably shade things in your favor.

The ONLY reason you won is because your third rate program only had one camera angle and an idiotic officiating squad. If you really want to break down that one play: Brian Ellis had all day to throw, on a 3rd and 10 play Trojan coaches knew that UAB would be forced to throw it deep (from the Trojan 46!) for any shot to tie the game. And three Trojan defenders couldn't swat it away or pick it off inside the two yard line.

I'll defer to your expertise on how TV equipment and alleged officiating incompetence negates all of that.

But then again I would expect nothing less from a classless A-Hole like yourself BlazerUnit.
I may be classless, and I may be an 'a-hole'. I may even be a 'BlazerUnit'.

But when my third rate losers team faced your defending championship squad, my team won. Know what's funnier than that? The folks taking advantage of those famously 'free' UAB tickets overwhelmingly went home happy, while several hundred cardinal-clad clowns paid for the opportunity to leave an empty, decrepit stadium mad--ultimately returning to their miserable lives in Pike County.

If I were destined to have only one moment of happiness in this 2010 Blazer football campaign, I couldn't have scripted things any better. Warms my cockles thinking about it.

Enjoy your one so-called win for the season and enjoy watching Troy in the post season......along with more than 50 other teams that happened to finish over 0.500. Holler back when your school does something markedly impressive.

And beware September 10th when the Blazers come to Troy, their will be plenty of cameras and NO mercy. And until that day comes, find a way to live down 34-33.

It's no longer a rivalry, it's a habit.

In regards to his answers that he just gave, completely within the bounds considering what our own fans said about our team.

To cap off this wonderful thread (and to start a much warranted vacation), there are several people I'd like to thank for helping to make it and the occurrences surrounding it possible.

First giving honor to the Flying Spaghetti Monster, who provides the noodlely direction in my life--I'd like to thank my parents, especially my dad BlazerUnit Sr. If it weren't for you harassing my mom, I simply couldn't be here. Everything good that you've taught me, I've long since forgotten after the 'sweet potato pie riot'. (There's a lot I would take back after that fateful night in Boligee.) But anyway, thanks for giving me life, pops. You are the original smack-sassin.

I'd like to thank UAB quarterback Bryan Ellis and running back Pat Shed, both for stepping in and performing admirably--we'll need you fellows to do that again against an angry Tennessee squad on Saturday. I'd like to thank David Isabelle for being a great team player despite not starting--you're still going to be one of our weapons going forward in C-USA play. I'd like to thank Jackie Williams--you deserve all of the shine you're getting for honoring your grandmother (http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2010/09/jackie_williams_catch_was_just.html)--and mad props for attracting much needed funds for City of Troy/Pike County funds due to swear jar contributions.

I'd like to thank Neil Callaway and Kim Helton for proving that blind squirrels occasionally do make good play calls. I'd like to thank Eric Schumann for apparently getting sick via a Legion Field hot dog in the second half, leaving his defensive players to figure things out for themselves.

Last but not least, I'd like to thank Trojan head coach Larry Blakeney. What can I say about this man that hasn't been said about Kenneth Lay, Richard Scrushy, or even political wiz Larry Langford? You sir, are one hell of a leader of men. I admire your eye for assistant coaching--primarily in this man (http://troytrojans.com/coaches.aspx?rc=40&path=football) and this man (http://troytrojans.com/coaches.aspx?rc=41&path=football). I haven't seen that kind of competence in dealing with green people since the duo of Bebop and Rocksteady.

Coach Blakeney, you are undeniably the leader of the Troy Trojan movement...a special movement that every man, woman and child should experience everyday. I tip my hat to you, suddenly reminded that I need to buy some Quilted Northern before Food Giant closes.

Thank you, God bless America, and GO BLAZERS!

This discussion is pointless. UA'sB has only had ONE winning season in the last 10 years. They went 4-8 Last year narrowly getting by Troy and USM by 1 point. Theres no way I could be gloating over UAB if I were a fan! But they all say "well we are in C-USA and your in the SBC". Ok but you still cant win any games in C-USA, nor can your team ever make any of the FIVE or SIX bowl tie ins that Conference has to our TWO. "O but Birmingham is a classy city and Troy is nothing but a trailer park" PLEASE bit%$ its Birmingham Alabama, Theres probably more Troy fans in Birmingham as there is TRUE UAB fans in that city :laughing021:

All I'm hearing is blah, blah, blah.

If Birmingham is just this busting hub of culture, civility, etc...then why is it all the main problems in Alabama are tied not only to Birmingham but Jefferson County?

If you look closely it was Jefferson County's financial (from the now infamous "sewer project") problems that called all our Legislators back to Montgomery for a special session that costs Alabama taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars http://www2.oanow.com/news/2009/jul/22/alabama_governor_special_session_only_for_jeff_cou-ar-502659/

And Jefferson County is so wonderful their "occupation tax" was ruled illegal by the Alabama Supreme Court. http://www2.oanow.com/news/2009/jul/22/alabama_governor_special_session_only_for_jeff_cou-ar-502659/

Not to be out done your mayor is doing 15 years in a federal prison for bribery. http://www.myfoxal.com/story/12090667/larry-langford-sentenced-to-15-years-in-prison?redirected=true

And the FBI, as of 2010, ranked The 'ham as the #10 most violent city in the United States. http://www.bizjournals.com/birmingham/news/2010/11/22/birmingham-ranks-as-10th-most.html

So go ahead and beat your chest about how great and classy Birmingham is when in fact people are leaving it droves. All Birmingham is now is a ghetto living in its former glory.

I must say, your smug attitude is not indicative of all the UAB people I know. You give them a bad name. My old high school football coach used to say after a win, "Show your class and not your a$$." You are definitely not showing your class.

I live in the greater Birmingham area and all of what has been said in previous posts about it is true. That is why people who lived there for years left and the only reason they come back is to go to work or they are just passing through town. The former mayor, the current city council and the apathetic people who remain have made the former "Magic City" a punchline.

Troy, for all its faults, is still a much safer place to live and go to school than UAB. Troy also has some things that UAB will never have, the support of the majority of the community in which the school is located AND leadership that does not have to bow down to their big brother to the west in order to do anything.

The rest of your post was just dumb, dismissive pablum Blazer fans have all heard before--though the quote above warrants a response, primarily the part about the 'apathetic' people.

You say you live in the greater Birmingham area, but not necessarily in Birmingham proper; lets assume you are one of those people who left. And apparently you're so confident in your decision you think the people that remain there are 'apathetic'--or, that these folks are not quite as smart as the people who left. I'm making this short leap because you didn't take care to account for any exceptions otherwise. Smug recognizes smug?

Now, you're well within your rights to pull up stakes and run for the comforts of Pelham and Vestavia if you think that's best--fine places to live and work, and no one will chase you in a paddywagon to bring you back. But in case no one has told you this before, you'll get told right now: Your decision (or that of anyone who chose to leave) is not worthy of special kudos, and it certainly doesn't rise to the level of being enlightened. Because in essence, you or anyone who thinks as you do loudly--you're actually admitting to a pretty subtle form of cowardice. The challenges get a little tougher, the road gets a little rougher--time to move somewhere else.

It might shock you to consider that there are professionals, parents, parishioners, and people living there who know all of Birmingham's warts, bruises, and calluses--and they love the area just fine. I know this because I'm friends with them, I had classes with them, I worshiped with them, etc. Why would they stay? It's home--or they've made it so. And I'm not talking about paycheck-to-paycheck peeps who can't afford the move to allegedly better places, I'm talking about people making an affirmative decision to live in neighborhoods from Fairfield to Five Points South, from Crestwood to Cahaba, from Titusville to Midfield. And many of them aren't not sitting on their front porches 'apathetic', they're actually doing things to make their communities okay places to live.

But not you and yours--why be a part of a reclamation project when you can just move? Its not that hard. Everyone should do it, you almost said as much. But 'everyone' hasn't done that. And not because they can't, or that they're stupid, or that they're apathetic--it's probably because they've dared to have a little more pride about where they came from than to simply pull up stakes and abandon it--like some people they used to know.

I don't think Birmingham is really missing out by not having weak-willed persons such as yourself living within its legal boundaries. So buh-bye, God bless, and enjoy that commute that you and your spouse will be working longer hours supporting.

Yeah.......your initial repsonse (whether a taunt or not) to my post just invalidates the rest of your post becuase it proves my initial assesment of your post.

I have never lived in Birmingham. My point being is that communities have both positive and negative things associated with them. The points brought up by other posters just indicates a lot of negatives and Birmingham has a lot of negatives that makes people seek to live and work elsewhere.

Troy and Pike County continue to grow and that is a sign that there are much more positives than negatives associated with living in that area. It is what it is.

Birmingham could be a great city again, if the people in the city itself stand up and stop putting up with the "leaders" of their community and demand changes that will bring people and businesses back to the city.

That may be so, but I'll bet that old bastard is worm food. Or he should be.

(So much for class, huh? :taunt003: I'll ignore the fact that you've directed your moralizing lecture at me, and not to the cardinal-clad simians flinging dirtier excrement. It's cool though, I understand.)

(Oh, and Go Blazers!)

I have never lived in Birmingham.

Yep. This is where you needed to stop. I'm actually ashamed to have wasted so many keystrokes responding to your gasbagging, when you clearly had zero credibility speaking on such matters to begin with.

I'm tempted to wish you a painful demise in a house fire, but some might consider that a little harsh. So I'll go with this approach instead: Be sure to thank the good UAB doctors who might save your life someday. In return, I promise to tip the Troy grads who install my DirecTV and change the oil in my Impala. Square deal, I think.

Gasbagging? This coming from the biggest gasbag on this board. I will be sure to thank the UAB doctors who might save my life one day if you promise to thank the Troy alums who taught them in middle and high school as well as the nurses who assist the doctors that got their training at Troy.

What credibility do you have other than you come here about the same time every year spewing the same trash? Having done business with people who have lived or done business in Birmingham the majority of them believe that the city leadership is what has kept Birmingham from it's downward spiral.

The people elect corrupt mayors like Larry Langford and have a current mayor, William Bell, and a city council who are trying to use eminent domain to force a business to sell that business to the city in order to build a baseball park when they could just incorporate the business into the design of the park. Why do you try to alienate business that want to remain in the city limits? Is Birmingham growing or shrinking economically. We both know the answer to that. No amount of your childish rants in an attempt to deflect the truth posted about the Magic City will change the fact that it is collapsing on itself.

I want Birmingham to succeed becuase that is good for the whole area. However, I and many other people, are not going to come back or even consider living in or owning a business in the city until the people of Birmingham actually elect leadership who are genuinely interested in cleaning the town up instead of the same old song and dance they have gotten since the days of William Bell's first interim term as mayor. They probably should also listen to better "community leaders" instead of Sheila Tyson http://blog.al.com/spotnews/2011/02/birmingham_neighborhood_leader.html

And if I were going to on here dissing people, I wouldn't mention that I drive an Impala.

Stereotype much? It's people on tractors, that you ridcule, that produce the food for you to eat. Ever think about that?
