Troy softball advances to A-Sun final

In Friday's first game, Troy defeated FAU 4-1 to advance to Saturday's championship game (11 a.m. central time).

In the following two games, UCF defeated Jacksonville 9-5 and FAU (9 innings) 3-2 to reach the finals for the third straight year.

FAU's second loss ended the Owls' string of consecutive A-Sun Tournament titles at eight and most likely their season at 37-32 as well.

FAU gave up its losing run in the bottom of the ninth, thanks to a wild pitch and single.

Troy faces UCF for the Atlantic Sun title at noon today. If Troy loses, the championship game will be at around 3 p.m. Eastern in Boca Raton.

Just read on ucfsports.com that FAU had t-shirts made that said that.

UCF leads 2-1 in the top of the 6th. If we pull it out, we'll play again at 2ish. I really don't know how 1 girl can pitch 7 games in 48 hours, so I'm expecting Troy to win one of these games.

Either way - its another title that will be given to UCF or Troy this year on our way out!

I hope this doesn't add a revenge factor at the baseball tournament. Not that you guys need any more extra help.

I've been told by some friends who are trainers that, surprisingly enough, the strain on their arm isn't as bad as it is on baseball pitchers.

Once again I'm reminded why I hate UCF so much.

Saturday's final outcome really makes me sick. The Lady Trojans flat out choked, not once, but twice to UCF and couldn't come up with the clutch hits when they needed to.

At 47-21, Troy will find out Sunday night whether they'll receive an at-large bid to the NCAA's. Since I graduated in '02, the tournament has been expanded to 64 teams, and I have other reasons to believe that they will get in - tough non-conference schedule with two wins over Florida State as well as one over Top 20-ranked Georgia Tech along with games against Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State (twice), Iowa State, Maryland and Virginia Tech. Most importantly, the Lady Trojans won the A-Sun regular season outright at 17-3, so if any team from the conference gets an at-large invitation at all, Troy will. FAU is done at 37-32.

Melanie Davis teams ALWAYS choke! Ive never seen something like it before, no matter how good they are they always find a way to choke in the tourny.
They are worse than Roy Williams and he even won the NC this year.

Tough luck to them, hopefully they will get inthe NCAA tourny and make a nice run!
