I know that we discussed several months ago concerning Troy resuming our baseball rivalry with Alabama. Mike Amos told me that Bobby Pierce is working on a game between Troy and Alabama for the 2006 season to be played at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery (home of the Double-A Montgomery Biscuits). Troy would be the designated home team.

Why not a home and home. What are they afraid of?

Troy sells itself too short sometimes. 'Bama is just another school.

I don't agree with that location at all! I know the Biscuits stadium is suppose to be nice and all, but I just think that's unacceptable. If Auburn can come to Troy then so can bammer. We have a great stadium to play in and there's no reason we should be traveling to Montgomery or Dothan to play our games unless that is where the other university is located. We wouldn't stand for this if this was our football team so why should we settle for this with our baseball team.

I would much rather play UA at Riverwalk Stadium as opposed to Patterson Field or in Tuscalooser or not at all.
I would love for them to come to Troy, they have done it before(and lost) but look how long it took to get AU to come to Troy. Play them at Riverwalk... nice park better attendance than would be at Patterson and its still not Tuscalooser

After the 1998 game in Troy (an 8-4 Troy win), UA coach Jim Wells said that since the Alabama team was harassed by a large group of Troy students out by the team bus as after that game, that he would NEVER bring one of his Alabama teams back to Troy for a game. I talked with Buzz Phillips about this before he left Troy for Huntingdon, and he confirmed that this was true. (That group of students trying to attack the UA baseball team that night was mainly the SAE fraternity and a few other random folks.)

Playing UA at Riverwalk in Montgomery is the next best thing to Riddle-Pace.
