I hope you're not excited just because he's 6'8".

Sure, UABhoops. All I know about the kid is that he is 6' 8". I would assume that any 6' 8" person can play basketball.
Maybe you didn't read all of my post. It says 'more info later'. I have reason to be excited about the kid. The fact that he is 6' 8" is significant, since that means he is clearly a center or forward type, which TROY needs. I was posting the height stat because it would be greeted with enthusiasm by our fans. Our fans (unlike you), also know there will be a story behind that height figure. Give me a bit more credit than that.

BTW, how's your fat slob of a defensive coordinator doing up in the Tragic City? I hear he eats more ribs than Dreamland can keep up with. Inquiring minds want to know.

Have there been any press releases about the new players?

None yet, Troydad. But I'm sure that certain lurkers on this site will come on telling us what a terrible job the athletic administration is doing, and asking where are NAIA championship banners are. That reminds me; Mr. Normal School Ho, it's been a while since you've posted. Been under the weather?

I didn't until last weekend that the SID really has his hands full.

He apparently has to travel with the baeball team and basketball doing on-air things. That leaves one paid person (or none) in Troy to handle press releases, promotions, etc.

That's just not right, and probably the reason why happens suich as Ware's draft were not covered/promoted immediately (or in depth) by TU.

I saw that the chief photographer (good guy and long-time employee) has retired. TU is interviewing for a replacement. My guess is not too many events are being covered photographically.

Troy must throw more money into public relations.

The legislature in in the final days of its session. They are considering an extra $46 million to higher ed beyond its usual appropriation. The governor, as usual, is against this, trying to play the needs of higher ed against K-12. Typical Alabama politics. If the package as it exists is passed (and I think there is a chance of this), it might give TROY some more room for needs such as these. I agree with you, Markey, that we need more pub relations personnel. Folks are overworked, period.

(Say, you are great with the camera, and know how to put thoughts down on paper. What would it take for you to apply for the position?)

In reality...they have presented an increase this year of 13 million more in appropriations for Higher-Education and 18.5 million the following years, not all 46 up front. That's what Higher Ed WANTS this year and it doesn't look to happen that way...
