I know I'm taking a beating which I deserve.
However, everyone who subscribed will be receiving a refund minus the cost of the mailout and first issue. I am not ripping anyone off. Granted, it may take few months before you receive your refund but you will receive one.
I enjoyed working on the magazine and I enjoyed producing the first issue. However, the advertising wasn't there. Anyone who ever saw a copy of the magazine loved it, but the subscribers weren't pouring in.
Also, after seeing the first issue, Troy University did commit to help me get the magazine off and running. It was a small commitment, but a commitment nonetheless. This was after Johnny's leaving and I'm not naming names but there were politics involved in the athletic department. Anyway, I never heard a word from Troy about the matter.
Chalk it up as a lesson learned and move on.
I may bring Trojan News back in the fall, but it will be in a newspaper format and free to the public. They'll be distributed throughout Troy on gameday and the ad rates will be much lower. In hindsight, I don't think Troy U. was ready for a magazine like I had in mind.
Again, sorry for the lateness of this post and thanks again to the people who subscribed. I assure you that you will be refunded.
