The first round of the A-Sun tourney is about to start. Is anyone listening?
WTBF's Web site is not streaming (as usual), but the direct link through WinAmp is working.

UCF's online radio station is broadcasting a pre-game show now, calling for a Gardner-Webb win.

The Sound sounds great via the Web.
Go TROY!

I am listening at work. I plan on making the trip up to Nashville on Friday if we make it. I would love to attend another game in Nashville.

Despite Bobby Dixon not being able to buy a bucket, Troy is hanging in there. Corey Hornsby is looking great and the Trojans' "D" is excellent.
We are getting out-rebounded 18-10. Several of G-W's baskets have come on second and third efforts.
Man, if several of them could get hot simultaneously ...
The Sound fans have got to be helping Troy. They sound like they are the only people in the gym, but are making lots of noise.
Troy 26, G-W 19 with 7:26 to play in the first half.
Go TROY!

It sounds like they're playing pretty good. It's GREAT to hear the pep band in the background!
I hope the guys can keep it up. I agree with *******, we need to get a few guys to get hot simultaneously.
GO TROJANS!

Troy led at the half, but G-W stormed back to take the lead.
But Troy won't die and now has clawed back for a 6-point lead.
The defense is playing well, still.
Not a lot of 3's are falling, unfortunately.
Hornsby just got an inbound pass and layup in 1 second!
Troy leads 58-50 with 7:55 to play.
Come on boys!

We've got to stop with these ridiculous fouls. Hazouri is out for a few minutes with 4. Bobby has 3. I just hope we're not committing stupid fouls; GW is already in the bonus for the rest of the half.
Some good news though, we've only had 4 turnovers in the whole game. GW was at 7 before the half!

Troy has blown the lead again, thanks to missed easy shots, lack of defensive rebounding, and some interesting calls by the refs (including two carry calls?).
60-60
Hornsby twists to lay it up and hit for a 2-point Troy lead.
G-W hits from inside to tie the game at 62, then Hornsby loses the ball once, then twice and G-W hits a 16-foot jumper with 3 seconds to play in the game.
Against all odds ...
Troy inbounds to Hasouri, who is hit hard (but no foul call) and misses the potential game-winning three-pointer.
Troy leads for almost the entire game, then blows it again. God, what a disappointing season.
Troy 62-G-W 64.
I know is might sound bad, but the refs killed us again. I can't count the number of times our guys were hammered with no calls, yet every time we touched that big guy of theirs, they got the call. And those carying calls stunk.
What really killed us was sloppy play toward the end when Troy led by as many as 8 points - including a missed layup and game-losing turnover, and missed free throws.

48 seconds tied at 62...turnover with 30 seconds...GW has the ball and a timeout.
I hope we can pull this out! OH MY GOSH!!! Bobby just isn't on today. We need to get the ball from GW or pray that they don't hit their shot.

64-62 GW with 3 seconds left...we need a lot of praying.
OMG!! WE HAD IT!!

I was encouraged when we were up by eight. Sounded like a good game. Hope we do better in the Sun Belt.

I don't even know what to say. Sounds like a few stupid fouls and some critical shots that we missed.
Oh well. That's just the way it goes. It doesn't sound like it was for lack of hustle to me. Corey had almost 30 points. Where was Bobby today? Tough loss.

Until Maestri learns to recruit some height (ones that will qualify), we will get killed in the Sun Belt.

Yea, we're a relatively short team, but I don't think that's our biggest problem. Have you noticed that a lot of times, those rebounds that we aren't getting are because there's no one there to get them. WHEN they guys decide to get their butts in the lane and move someone else out of it, we get the rebound. However, we'd all rather stand around behind the arc and watch someone else shoot 3s.

Another problem this team had, laziness. I am glad someone other than Markus and I realized that!

Oh well, I still enjoyed watching them play. But you are right I think our inability to rebound hurt us all season. We need some big guys that can stay under the basket.

I've enjoyed watching them play as well. We're going to miss Corey, Ryan, Eddie and Zavier next year. TROY basketball will look funny without Corey, Ryan, and Eddie on the court. I wish their senior season could've ended differently than it did.
There's nothing we can do about the guys. We've just got to rally behind the girls and support them as they go into their tournament next week.

I'll use an absurd illustration to make my point.
Try to envision your little brother or sister trying to take a rebound away from Shaquille O'Neal. I think you'd agree with me that your sibling stands absolutely zero chance of getting the ball from Shaq.
It's the same thing for this year's team. When your tallest players are lean 6-7 guys going up against beefy 6-9 studs, you're going to get crushed on the boards like we did all year. We absolutely missed Rob Lewin from last year's team. He would've made an incredible difference to this team with his size and muscle.
Our lack of size also hurt our defensive intensity. We weren't lazy on defense, but you are going to lose late in the game when you're outsized like we were after getting banged around for 40 minutes.
OUR KIDS WEREN'T LAZY!! They were simply outsized.
So when our coaches go recruiting they just need to ask to supersize their orders!
