Well, we're in the A-Sun tourney, by the skin of a basketball cover. FAU is out.
1. Gardner-Webb 13-7 .650
2. UCF 13-7 .650
3. Belmont 12-8 .600
4. Jacksonville 11-9 .550
5. Lipscomb 11-9 .550
6. Georgia State 11-9 .550
7. Mercer 11-9 .550
8. Troy 10-10 .500
9. Florida Atlantic 10-10 .500
10. Stetson 8-12 .400
11. Campbell 0-20 .000
What does everyone think? Just bow out gracefully and admit we don't have the horses, or can this hot-and-cold team make any kind of a run?
I hope Troy at least holds its head up and wins a game or two. It would be wonderful to meet UCF in the final and show the Knights how important the regular season title is. :)

Does anyone know if the A-Sun has posted the bracket yet? Are we definitely playing GWU in the first game?
Go Trojans!

I would be shocked if we didnt. Virtually every tourney structured as ours has the First and Last place teams matched up working towards the middle. (For Example: 1 vs. 8, 2 vs. 7, 3 vs. 6, and 4 vs. 5)

I honestly can see us winning the tourney, as it seems that every team in the a-sun has hot and cold streaks. We just have to hope we hit a hot one!

Troy plays Gardner-Webb in the first round.
Wouldn't you hate to be in their shoes wondering whether the real or pretend Troy will show up? This is supposed to be a blow-out on paper, right?
I think if Troy wins the first round, it goes to the title game. If the real team shows up.

It really is quite possible. Think about it. We beat every team in the conference this season except for Belmont, Lipscomb, and UCF at least once. We ran a close game with those three teams at least at some point. It's not impossible!!!
Keep the faith!

The TROY team that played at Lipscomb this week couldn't beat the Little Sisters of the Poor. Lipscomb's play was pathetic -- ours was worse. I've never seen Don Maestri so upset in my life. On the other hand, the brilliance I saw this year against Jacksonville indicates to me that there is not a team in the league we could not beat. We shall see. Wouldn't that be something if we won the tourney?

We can do it!!
I left Nashville this past Saturday with a completely pessimistic attitude. I drove all the way back to Troy thinking that the season was over. When I got back however, I saw that we were in the tourney. So, I'm going to be optimistic from now on.

Good to see you righted the ship a little with B-ball.
I have no idea what's going on with Middle. We have too many 3's and 4's. A dang good center and our only two healthy guards are about as schizo as they come.
A crap ton of talent if more than one of them could show up each night.
Seriously our backup PG has 22 games of 4 or less points and 7 games of 17 or more.
But get on track win the crAcklantic Sun, get some recruits and lets rock next year.
P.S. Is FAU really that bad in bball?

FAU has arguably the best talent in the A-Sun. That's why its fans were so upset about the Owls' streaky performances.
Most fans blamed the coach.

With every post, U Classless F@#ks continue to display your lack of sportsmanship, and give every non-UCF supporter reason to hate your guts.
Good luck in C-USA, where your asses will be handed to you on an almost daily basis. When your leaders have the guts to play Troy again in football (you might have forgotten that debacle) or basketball, come back and run your foul mouths again.

How much sense did that make? I believe UCF is the worst D1A football team in America. As far as a "program" is concerned, football is the cornerstone.

Whatever makes you feel better. We're in year 2 of a three year rebuild. Keep watching! LOL!
New stadium, new arena, new football facilities, new indoor facility, new ball park, new softball park, new practice fields, new conference! God! I love it!
How's your tournament going?

Yeah, rebuild? As if UCF ever had a good team, ever had a bowl team, ever had a team that even challenged for the MAC title (ecept in its fans' minds). Funny.
Good programs don't go 0-11 in their "rebuilding" years.
Stadium? Not even a done deal. Practice facilities. Now, that's exciting.
Keep building friends.

Perhaps (you'd be bitter anywhere), but it's pretty pathetic to claim allegiance to a commuter school in Oviedo that can't fill one-third of its borrowed stadium; has many more Gator, 'Noles and Miami fans in its own town than Knight fans; is the fifth or sixth considered school by prospective students after all the real universities; serves essentially as a big commuter college; unfavorably compares to much smaller schools like Troy (which it backed out of playing in football); has no football stadium and will have a fight to ever build one; was the embarrassment of the state in sports this year; and has the nastiest, for-no-good-reason cockiest fans in Florida.

Why are you so bitter and why do tell such lies? You don't have to lie to make yourself feel better. UCF denied your application, didn't they.

I am happy to say I never, ever considered applying to Florida Tech. I would have preferred to attend Jacksonville, North Florida, West Florida, USF, St. Leo, Brevard Community College, Stetson, SCC, Jack Eckerd, Rollins - even Jacksonville State! God!
I would have been embarrassed to be a UCF alumni after witnessing the classless crap the fans spewed at the Troy game in Orlando. UCF fans bring on the barbs they receive by their classless actions.
I find it odd that many of you "Jerks" keep coming here and posting childish, classless garbage, yet claim Troy is not a rival and that the Knights couldn't care less what Troy did.
Well, stand by your claims. If you don't care, show some smarts and go away.
... or the powers that be here can shut down this ridiculous thread and then you can go and start another one with some brainless, immature slap.

I'd go away but I'm enjoying watching you be a hypocrite too much. Your bitterness oozes through your each of your words. Why can't you face reality? Just admit UCF's superiority and I'll go away.

Your right. I learned such basic definitions in middle school. No wonder you couldn't get into UCF.

Oh, and by the way, Troy STATE won't be in the tournament ever again. In case you don't have access to the news down there, WE CHANGED OUR NAME. REMEMBER IT!!!

I was at the tournament this past weekend and saw Troy playing GWU. If I remember correctly, Troy's basektball jersey's did say "Troy State". Guess your Athletic Department hasn't received news of the name change.
BMarkey
03-06-2005, 12:14 PM
If you were intelligent enough do do some reading on this and other boards, you would know that Troy changed that name around a year ago, but that its leaders were prudent enough to realize that much money could be saved by using up resources such as jerseys, letterheads, etc.
If you could read newspapers, you would see that Troy is now almost universally called Troy University, including by the A-Sun and SunBelt, and by your own school.
The rest of the college sports world showed UCF respect by agreeing to call it by that acronym - not Central Florida U. or Florida Tech or FTU or FCU, Central Fla., or a number of other formerly used names.
Is it to much to ask that you show Troy that same level of respect, or will you follow in the footsteps of most of the other UCF fans who come to this board, representing their school in a disrespectful manner?
*******,
Because you heard a few of our students using "foul" language at a basketball game, you draw the conclusion that UCF must be full of classless fools?
Get off of it. Good luck in the Sunbelt.

Sorry, but we were off it ... until some of your thugs came over here and started throwing garbage around and trying to stir things up on our turf. They got what they deserved.
Many of the outspoken UCF fans are classless, as evidenced by their posts here and elsewhere - as well as their classless acts in front of children and old women. The made and continue to make your school look bad.
I'm sorry if you do not like my responses (and they were all responses), but decent UCF fans ought to try to police their thug "jerk" posters.
