If Nebraska wins the Big 12, then that would likely mean that two Big 12 teams go to a BCS game leaving the Independence (Weed Waker) Bowl without a Big 12 team. ESPN projects Auburn to represent the SEC in that bowl. Would Troy have a shot at that bowl?

Interesting scenario. It looks like the Indy bowl would be the one dropped by the Big 12 if that conference received two BCS bids. Unfortunately, I don't have an answer. Someone else on the board will have to step in... but I like thinking about the possibility.

From ESPN...

"The Big 12’s bowl picture appears to have cleared up after the final weekend of regular-season games.

With eight bowl-eligible teams and eight bowl slots, it appears to be in perfect symmetry.

That is, unless Nebraska upsets Texas in the Big 12 Championship Game on Saturday.

Oklahoma State’s BCS at-large hopes have been snuffed out after the Cowboys’ loss at Oklahoma. The Big 12 likely won’t have two teams in the BCS this season unless Nebraska beats Texas. The Cornhuskers then would qualify for the Big 12’s automatic slot in the Fiesta Bowl and the Longhorns would be directed to another BCS bowl as an at-large team. It would also mean that the Independence Bowl likely would not have a Big 12 team and would have to look elsewhere."

This matchup has been addressed in another topic. Most seem to think that AU would avoid it at all costs, just for the fact of thepossible upset.
