The softball team lost their first game to Samford 1-0. They won the second game 2-0, and Jocelyn McCallum broke the strikeout record with 13.
I got to see the first game! They played well. Samford scored in the first inning, and we kept stranding our runners and couldn't seem to get one home. Kacie Flinn pitched; I can't remember the exact number of strikeouts, but I'd say she had at least 7 or 8.
Looking forward to a great season!

Flinn had 6 strikeouts. It's rough though, 6 strikeouts no earned runs and a heck of an effort. And lost the game on an unearned run that was scored in the top of the first. Unbelievable. My softball writer said it was a lack of run production, or at least manufacturing runs. I covered them last year. I hope they get hot early. Early season play is never easy, on any team. Unless they schedule a bunch of powder puff schools to pad their record early. But, Melanie Davis won't do that. She understands the importance of playing a tough schedule all the way through.

I saw a little bit of the first game. Sally Jones had a really good hit, and one of the only ones...she always finds a way to get on base!!!

Yeah my softball writer. Got a problem with that. Oh that's right you don't think that the Trop is worthy of having a self-contained staff. After all, none of you really read it, or care about it. I haven't figured out why you @$$^*!%$ feel that everything posted on here is subject to sarcasm and smart@$$ remarks. But, then again we are constantly told to be "good little journalists" as if we have absolutely no idea how to put a paper together. Belittling us only shows that you know little about our setup or care to know about it. So if you don't care, fine. But when I or one of my writers get's on here and posts information because they were assigned that beat or story, then I would appreciate you to keep your mouths shut. If you wanna attack someone, attack me for my mistakes. But DON'T attack our paper or imply that it is stupid I or any other section have a staff of writers.

Chill junior....In no way did D1 or I attack the Trop...I just found it humorous how you called the softball reporter "YOUR softball writer"...
I read the Trop...every Thursday...except the last page  (Note: Sarcasm implied)
