Rusty Smith is out for this game. They haven't done that great with him. The Blazers might win this one. They have gone from 4.5 to 6 pt favorites.

I'll take UAB in this one because they look to be a quality win just like the MT win...FAU winning does nothing for TROY...

Ok well....it gives the SBC another win against C-USA!! Either way its better to cheer for FAU though I doubt they win.

I know it's kind of like trying to pick who to root for between the Taliban and Al Quida, but since we play both of them, it won't affect our "strength of schedule". What an FAU win could do is move us up a little bit on the totem poll so our conference (and therefore us) get a few more dollars on the revenue splits at the end of the year.

Come on guys... start thinking like the rest of college football... with your wallets.

Not really. You're looking at it from an SBC point-of-view and I'm looking at it from a TROY point-of-view...with that said, we're both entitled to our opinions.

I want FAU to win just to make the Sunbelt 3-0 against CUSA this year, so the CUSA folks will shut their yaps about how they're better than Sunbelt.

This is the last game between Sunbelt and CUSA teams for the regular season, so FAU needs to finish the job for the Sunbelt.

OWLS all the way! Maybe Schnellenberger can pull a rabbit out of his hat!

If Rusty is out, who is the starting QB?

Jeff Van Camp. He's a redshirt junior that's apparently more of a dual-threat guy. He's supposed to be good but he won't have Rusty's experience. That really does suck for Rusty though. Like FAU or not, the dude had some skills and put it on us in 2007.

Van Camp is from Navarre High School, and next is Pensacola Catholic's David Kooi.

With apologies to anyone who may feel differently...I would root for anyone playing against UAB (except maybe Auburn).

Go FAU!

Go FAU!

I'm rooting for FAU for many different reasons. First, they need to get to 6 wins to be bowl eligible. Whether they make one or not isn't a priority, I just want as many SBC Schools to be eligible as possible. They already have 5 losses, and are going to get their 6th in about 17 days or so. So they need to win the rest of their games against UAB, ASU, WKU, and FIU to get there. All of that seems plausible.

Secondly, UAB sits at 3-5 right now, with Memphis, ECU, and UCF left, as well as the FAU game. A loss to FAU would pretty much eliminate them from bowl contention, as I don't think they could win out, especially with ECU and UCF as their last two games. But if they were to beat FAU and Memphis, and be at .500 with two remaining, there might be a spark there and they might could squeak by one of the two.

Houston already has 7 wins. There are 4 others with 5 wins. Southern Methodist has 4 wins, with Rice, Marshall, UTEP, and Tulane remaining. Tulsa has 4 wins, with Houston, ECU, Memphis, and Southern Miss remaining.

The last thing we'd need is for C-USA to have an abundance of bowl-eligible teams. I think they have 5 guaranteed, with back-ups to two others currently. If UAB were to somehow squeak out 6 wins and be the 8th eligible team, any chance of 6-6 SBC schools getting an alternate invite is gone except for the ones we have agreements with.

Does anyone know what place finisher in CUSA ( assuming they are bowl eligible ) gets the invite to the New Orleans Bowl? Just looking at the standings, I am trying to figure out if UAB has a chance to go. I would rather play ANY CUSA team besides them. I bet they would not bring 1000 fans..Heck they didnt bring 500 to Troy!!

Not really the place of finish, but they get the 4th pick.

Conference USA has five regular bowl tie-ins, with a contingency to fill a spot in two more games

#1 The Liberty Bowl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberty_Bowl) receives the first choice of C-USA teams, though it is not required to take the C-USA champion.
#2 The Hawaiʻi Bowl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawaii_Bowl) will have the second choice of C-USA teams for the 2009-10 bowl season (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009%E2%80%9310_NCAA_football_bowl_games).[6] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_bids_to_college_bowl_games#cite_note-Hawaii-5)[7] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_bids_to_college_bowl_games#cite_note-HawaiiBowl-6)
#3 The Armed Forces Bowl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armed_Forces_Bowl) receives the third choice of C-USA teams.
#4 The New Orleans Bowl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Orleans_Bowl) receives the fourth choice of C-USA teams.
#5 The St. Petersburg Bowl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Petersburg_Bowl) receives the fifth choice of C-USA teams.
#6 The EagleBank Bowl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EagleBank_Bowl) will receive the sixth choice of C-USA teams if Army (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Army_Black_Knights_football) is not bowl-eligible.
#7 The Texas Bowl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_Bowl) will receive the seventh choice of C-USA teams if the Big 12 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_12_Conference) is unable to provide a bowl-eligible team, or if Navy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navy_Midshipmen_football) is not bowl-eligible.

Let's see... here's a possible scenario:

The Liberty Bowl - Houston (who wouldn't take Case Keenum and that offense)
The Hawaiʻi Bowl - Southern Methodist or ECU (if June Jones's SMU club is in the 2nd or 3rd spot they get called back for a reunion and if not, ECU gets the nod)
The Armed Forces Bowl - ECU or SMU or Southern Miss (SMU would be a good draw because of it's proximity, but I think SMU will win out and go to Hawaii)
The New Orleans Bowl - Tulsa or Southern Miss or Marshall(SoMiss is logical, but Tulsa might have a better record... so might Marshall)
The St. Petersburg Bowl - Southern Miss or Marshall or UAB (whoever wins more games)
The EagleBank Bowl - Marshall or UCF (if UCF wins enough games)
The Texas Bowl - Navy is bowl eligible, so no go there

My humble opinion, of course, but I tried to use logical progression on these given what their future schedule is and their current records.
