There is a building in front of the track/soccer field that ALWAYS has smoke/steam coming out from the top of it. What is this building?

Physical plant - no idea what it is for.

That building is the Heat Plant/Boiler Building. Yes, we still have a couple of buildings who get their heat via a boiler.

It's not that unheard of though, here at Florida almost half of the buildings still get heated via steam production. Those types of heating ventures are still very cost efficient, provided they don't break down. Repairs are where they cost arms, legs, and small children.

Did anyone else smell the foul odor in town last weekend? I smelled it on campus and by the Holiday Inn - like a mixture of manure and horse bedding. Was the wind just right to blow the scents of nearby cattle/horse farms our way, or did it have something to do with the Sanders plant?

LORD YES! I don't know what it was but it was awful.

Lots of farmers in Pike County use "Chicken Litter" for fertilizing pastures and corn. Litter is whats left on the floor after the chickens are hauled to market if you get the drift!

That odor is very fragrant and wafts quite a distance when it's first spread by the tons on fields. A NW wind last w/e would have put the Holiday Inn and campus lined up perfectly for the "hit". The NW wind could not have carried anything from the Lead Plant in the direction of the Holiday.
