Wow! Who of us could have imagined Troy in this position two or three weeks ago.
If Maestri brings these kids into the A-Sun tourney in first or second place, what do you think - Coach of the Year?

If he wins the tourney, it should be a no brainer. More evidence that we need to keep this guy for a long time & get a new facility.

We are getting a new facility! Because of our move to the sunbelt in all sports, we're either renovating Sartain to 8000 seats or getting an entirely new Basketball Gym, I forget which. We would look really bad playing in a "Basketball Conference" with a measly 3000 seats!

Can someone out there PLEASE explain more about this?
Ive seen posts about the "exapansion" but noone has bothered to say what was going to be done, how or when. Has this been published anywhere?

Once I see heavy construction equipment somewhere on campus prepping for a new b'ball facility I will believe it. I know people have posted & said that it is going to happen but the proof is in the pudding. Heck, we do not have an AD yet.

The original goal for the AD announcement was set for Friday, so we may just know by then.

Johnny Williams said said publicly that a new arena was coming next. No timeline was given, if I recall the interview correctly.
Doesn't Sartain hold 4,000-plus people?
I saw Gonzaga's place on TV last night. It holds around 3,800 - looked like the UCF Arena.

No one who is serious about building a great Troy basketball program would ever consider wasting more money on our current basketball facitlity.
I'm really surprised the Sun Belt hasn't decreed an ultimatum about building a new arena already.
We'll never get quality teams to come to our house for pre-season games until we build a much-improved arena!

we have sorry @ss fans that dont show up for the games..the fans that are real are there through thick and thin. I hope its true about what they say.."if you build it they will come". Right now we cant even fill up our own arena..let alone our football stadium..unless its some powerhouse..which is sad..because I enjoy going to ALL games.

Compared to most mid-major basketball programs, Troy does very well with attendance. We've led the A-Sun in attendance most every year that we've been a member. And we're currently a 9-11 basketball team, and as a result, it's hard to "pack the house" with a sub-500 team regardless of who you are.
