This is just another instance of the administration making decisions without any insight from the people involved.
For any of you who have been paying attention, you have probably notice that all season we have been called the "Sound of the South" pep band.
Well, for a while now, we have been called the Backcourt Posse. I think that this was what Maestri decided to call us years ago.
So, I asked the announcer why he didn't call us that. He told me that the administration (not athletic administration) sent a memo saying specifically not to call us that this year. He didn't know why, but he was just following orders.
This is the same as the issue with T-roy. Why are they making all of the decisions without consulting fans, students or faculty that should be involved?
I'm just curious.

Get T-shirts made with that name and chant it during the games!
Make it happen!

Whenever the announcer says "Sound of the south pep band" have everyone respond in unison "WHO?" (Much like many places do when they announce the other teams starting lineup.
That's odd about your administration. Maybe your director can make a contact and fix that.

just another effort to keep the band down.

tsufl....I don't know what was meant by that statement. If it was an attempt to piss someone off, sorry, it didn't work.
*******...Someone purchased nice Rugby shirts for us this year, so we can't get t-shirts made. However, the shirt from the last two years (that I was wearing at the UCF game) does say Backcourt Posse. I wonder if the admin had any say in the new shirt.
st932253...No, we haven't tried that, but like I said, the announcer is just following orders. However, if we did it on a night (UCF game) when some administration would be sure to be there.....

Fred...calm down, tsufl meant nothing by that...I understood what he meant. You take stuff to offense too easily.
As far as the administration being there, Dr. Hawkins was at the game last night...I would think he goes to all the home games when he's actually in the country

Ok, I didn't take any offense to it. I'm still having just as much fun at games. But, I know that there are people on this board that just like to say stuff about the band.
Yes, the Chancellor was at the last game. My post was actually pertaining to future games. And yes, I think that he is at every game as long as he is in town. I guess I wasn't clear enough.

I swear, why is it that anything original at this school has to be changed by DA-DA-DUM..... the "Administration"? What on earth is wrong with Backcourt Posse? I think that it is obvious that the pep band is an extention of the Sound. Do they think the phrase "Backcourt Posse" has negative connotations? Sorry, but it doesn't bring to mind menace in my noggin, not along the lines of trenchcoat mafia or the like.

I love my university..but man we sure as hell did some things that were just stupid...they love doing things that make no sense at all. I remember someone telling me...you will understand when you have your own band one day...but this is in reference to the administration. I understand what NOT to do..and what to do right for the kids..and not my own personal goals! So let me guess..the tubas cant run on the court anymore..we cant call Howard from Mercer a mommas boy anymore? Why dont we just piss everyone off and hold and Alacrap vs. Aublow game in our own arena..would that make everyone happy:)? hehehe see ya around people...

Whiner, the tubas were told by refs that they couldn't run out on the court anymore. I thought that you were still here for that one.
Now, regarding the Mama's Boy...We still use that one. It isn't a regular chant, but it is occasional. it is also one of the things yelled when they are announcing the starters.
