Does anyone know about the license plates for Troy University? I was hoping to get a new one with a new design. I don't know if the state has made a new one or not. I don't want one with the old trojan head with "TSU" under it. Any info would help.

Yeah, I just bought a new car tag for my new car a few months ago and I would have bought a Troy car tag if they had new updated ones with the current logo. And I want to see the athletic logo on the new one, not that ugly university logo that says Troy with the word University up underneath it and that funky Trojan head that you can't even tell what it is.

That's a great idea, FL. I hadn't thought of that? How much extra does it cost for a personalized tag?
I always missed not being able to have a Troy tag because I lived in Florida. With all the silly tags we have here now (manatees, pro-life, dolphins, colleges I have barely heard of), I would think that the logos of neighboring states' colleges' could make it into the mix.
Maybe we can start lobbying our legislators about that.

I think it was around than 25.00 for the personalized tag. It takes awhile for it to come in though. I ordered mine in December and Im still waiting.
I think we should look into trying to get a Troy tag for FL. Seems like I have seen a UF tag for the state of Tenn.

There are alot of Tags out there for out of state teams, I remember seeing Auburn tags as an option when I got my tag in Virginia and Notre Dame when I got a tag in Maryland, etc., etc. Depending on the laws in FL I don't see why you couldn't do it. Most states require a minimum initial purchase or soemthing like that which would mean coordinating with the alumni chapters and on this board to spread the word and get committments, but there are enough TROY alumni in Florida that it should be easy enough, and it would help with recruting, promotion, etc. Spread the word. I doubt there are enough of us here in Louisiana, but half of TROY's alumni are in Florida!!!!

The original post on this thread was from Trojan61 wondering when the new TROY tags would be available. (Sorry, I dont' know how to do the quote box.)
I was informed the other day that universities are required to update their tags every 5 years. However, we have gotten permission to change ours mid-way since we changed names, etc etc. Anyways, the same advertising company that has worked on all of the new logos is currently working on a tag. It will come to the university for approval and then go back to be put on an actual tag and then sent back here for more approval. Then, they have to run visibility tests to make sure you can tell what institution it is from and that everything is lined up correctly. They more or less have to be able to tell that all of the desired information is visible. Otherwise, what's the point? Anyway, the last ETA that I heard was about 4 months to get all of the approvals and switching back and forth. I'll post again if I get anymore information!

Approval, yeah thats gonna happen REAL fast. Hell the reason we didnt have any new "gear" this year is b.c the people on the hill couldnt make their damn minds up and kept changing stuff. As for updating tags we have had the same tag for atleast 5 years if not more. So I dont think we are changing midway through. UA has changed thier tag twice in just a couple of years. In any case thanks TROYgirl for the update what I said is in no way an attack on you just the bigwigs up on the hill.

I thought the same things that you're thinking when I first heard, but I figured I would pass on the information that I had given by people who I feel have inside information.
Who knows?!?!?

oh geez...why do we keep going to the same company for our image needs? It seems like a real waste of money to me, and for all we know, we may end up with Hector on a piece of metal

I talked to someone else tonight with more insight than the last person that I asked and was told that it'd be closer to a year because of all of the approvals that the design has to undergo. So, I stand corrected.

Raise your hand if you are surprised by this revelation.
I wonder why this wasnt included with all the other branding.

To be honest with ya - its not surprising to me at one bit. The university I am sure has this way down on its list of things to do.
If we get it within the next 12 - 24 months I would be content, but not expecting it any sooner. Things like that have to work a system, which involves much more then Troy.
