I had no intention of posting here until I read the consistent crying, lying, and exagerations being blown on this board.

I sat in the student section. I didn't hear one F' bomb, one cuss word, or anything remotely personal or offensive. So we called your team bad and yelled that they sucked.

SO WHAT! Get over it. It's called a college game and it's called playing AN AWAY game. UCF outrebounded your patsy team 44-18. We started a chant that went "You can't rebound". I'm sure that's crossing the line too?

The fact is that you guys are just having sour grapes and are making exuses for being punked at UCF. This game could have been won by 20 or more if we didn't show pity and put our subs in.

So- from all the UCF fans that you are lying about and crying about.....

*Here's a tissue*

And you can't even get the school's name right (or choose not to show enough respect to do that).

More "class" by a classless school.

No one has answered the question: Would you have acted that way directly behind your mother, grandmother, sister or little brother?

Probably, you loser.

Well, your lovely basketball team wore a jersey that said "Troy State".

So, either they have no respect for their school either, or are just too stupid to realize that apparently a name change has occured.

Id invite you to go to many other threads on this board concerning this same subject.
But since you do go to UCF I will save you the trouble and just let you know you are an ass clown and you cant just buy every team in the school new unis.

It doesnt matter that you guys have bigger financial problems then Enron. Your jerseys said Troy STATE, so we used our same ol' chant. It works as long as you advertise your school as Troy STATE University and by wearing that on the jerseys that is exactly what you are doing.

By the way, at least half of the people on this message board still have TSU in their names. You do realize that stands for Troy STATE University. If you want your name changed then just do it. If you cant afford to make the switch then wait till you can.

bigger financial problems than enron?
do you have any idea how much jereys cost?
do you ass hole?
not to mention new shorts.
Now multiply that by 20 (just for basketball)
that adds up dumbass.
no to mention baseball, softball, WBB and football.
if you really think UCF could afford to drop that kind of cash you are terribly wrong.
The only places that can afford getting new jerseys every year are places like UF, FSU, Nebraska and so on and thats only because they have BIG contracts with Nike and Adidas unlike anything schools like ours will ever see.

as for the people that have TSU or troy state in their names. Thats because those people morethan likely graduated (much like I did) when the school was Troy State. That or they were attatched to their moniker from the old board.

Psst, I'll let you in on a secret. Those jerseys we were wearing at the game, yeah..thats right, THEY WERE NEW!
Oh, you know the jerseys (home and away) that our football team wore this year?? Yeah, they were all new too.

Do I also have to mention all the buildings going up for athletics on campus?

OK, i guess I will. 4 athletic dorms, an aquatic center, a new 10,000 seat basketball arena, we just put up a state of the art football facility, the indoor practice field for football is just about done too. I think I am missing a few things...Oh yeah, the new softball fields, practice fields and ummm..yeah A 40-50k seat on campus football stadium.

Well the jerseys you WERE wearing before this season you had been wearing for a long time. We just got new uniforms for every team on campus just 3 years ago when we signed on with adidas. So right now there are no funds for new unis. As for new facilities? Enjoy playing at the Citrus Bowl buddy. When you want to see a real stadium come to Troy! (not to mention the brand new baseball and softball fields and the new gym to be built in the not to distant future)

Schools are allowed to have athletic dorms as long as 50% of the people living there are regular students.

By the way, your tax money isn't going towards the buildings being built for athletics.

I called them that because they are still going to hold all of the athletes. It is not against ncaa rules to do this as long as the dorms are 50% normal students. A lot of schools do this now a days.

Well first of all the dorms will be over 2500 beds and i dont think we have 1200 scholarship athletes (i might be wrong) so we should be good. The 10k arena is going to be nice.

Oh and you forgot the stadium we are proposing to build. The citrus bowl wants a 30 year lease and we decided that wasnt happening.

I understand why the jerseys were the old ones but why would you change the name of the school before you could afford to change the jerseys?

http://ucf.edu/~mk/stadium.jpg

O = Dorms - 4 of them, 7 stories, first 2 are retails including a Barnes and Noble, Chili's, and Ron Jons surf shop.
M = Garage
B = Swim and Dive
C = new arena (in front of current one, where the drained pond was for those of you who made the trip)
H = football stadium (ETA 2007 season, 2006 if everything goes perfect, but it never does) - ignore the castle thing - that was just photoshopped on by the guy who put this together
F = Indoor Field house

If you visited, you'll note that the road in front of the arena will be pedestrian only. You'll agree this is needed for the safety of pedestrians walking from the garage there and other parts of campus.

Troy doesn't fill our arena - we had 1287 yesterday. The UCF vs. Troy game broke a 14 game win streak which is the reason we sold out. We will have bigger crowds for teams like Memphis and UAB. A home and home series with USF will be good if/when it gets started up. The biggest reason UCF and Troy will BOTH enjoy better home crowds is because of the name recognition for the opponants. Aside from the fact that we won't be playing Mercers and Campbells, we'll be playing teams that we ALSO play in football - so a huge football rival will draw well for basketball and vice versa.

Big things are ahead for both UCF and Troy.

Finally - the jersey thing is stupid. Get off it. A school is bigger than its athletic program, and I doubt that the reason Troy changed its name is for how it would look on a uniform or a scoreboard. Get real. "Why not wait until the new uniforms come in"...get a clue ucffunke! Though it is a good reponse to ******* getting his panties in a wad over the "classless" Troy State cheers...

The jury is still out!

Just joking. Although there have been fans from other schools who have expected us to fire Coach O'Leary after 1/2 a recruiting season and 1 football season and put off any football facilities until we win. We're trying to build a winning program, the pieces are there - but I agree - if all this happens and we don't move into a top 40 program in 2-3 years, something is terribly wrong.

Insane is a bit much isn't it?

As a fan and donor - should I not have my sights set to the highest possible goal? Should I settle for mediocrity?

With that being said, I don't think my expectations are unreasonable. UTEP just did it in 1 year with a coaching staff change. Utah 1 year, and we saw what happened after 2.

We've put positive changes in place in just about ever facet possible: facilities, coaching staff, conference, stadium, discpline and academic requirements (even uniforms! ). Add to that the fact that we are a Florida school and if we can be in a position to keep kids in state - Not even just the kids going to go play at top programs around the country - kids like that stud QB who left to go play at Bowling Green would be a good start.

So - you might call it insane. I'd call it optimistic, but very possible. Keep in mind, we aren't playing a BCS schedule - there is no reason that we shouldnt be in a position to contend for the N-CUSA very soon.

Strive for more TUEngineer.

Hey! You didn't call it Troy State...you're coming along there...

Actually...I'm not stupid...I just have absolutely no faith in UCF...and if a school can go 0-11 to a top 40 team in 2 years...there's some illegal stuff going on....Just because I express my dislike and my opinion towards UCF doesn't make me stupid. The fact that you continue to make pointless posts on our board...that constitutes stupidity.

I beg to differ TUEngineer. The Naval Accademy went 0-11 and two years later was in a bowl. The next year after that finished in the top 20. I'll bet no "illegal stuff" occured.

We need to work on getting our coaches paid, and not on arguing with the UCF posters. They will go away soon, but we have some problems that are just starting to surface (no AD yet, no DC yet, all resources into one sport, very little money to pay coaches, other sports average or below at best.) In time, I'm confident we will work them out. Right now we kinda look confused.

I haven't posted much about the whole AD/DC situation because I honestly don't know that much about the coaches/administration. I'm not a 'booster', I'm not Alumni...I just know a lot of the players. I'm pretty fed up with the Troy University administration overall anyways...long story but they completely screwed up my schedule because they're trying to "save money." Show up for class and all the sudden they decide "Oh, lets merge the Physics with Cal 2 lab with the Regular Physics 2 lab"...doesn't that defeat the purpose of taking Physics w/ Cal? (there are other instances such as this...just an example)

I still love this school and it's athletics programs...but honestly...I'm ready to start at UA in the fall...I'm so sick of the F-ups by this administration! Sorry if this post upsets any of you (Bob, Baggs, or Markus)...but this is just how I feel.

You "Jerks" are no better than the NIU people, who just coudln't leave the name change alone. Using the old jerseys represents a prudent use of Alabama state funds - unlike the building of a monstrous football stadium (that facility will not happen any time soon) for 20,000 (or less if next year is anything like 2004) fans.

If special state appropriations are involved in that stadium plan, you can count on me lobbying my legislators to kill it dead - like the UCF football program.

Actually the stadium is slated to be up and running for the 2006 season if there are no set backs and 2007 if some setbacks occur. The state isn't paying for the stadium, it is all private donors. Concessions, parking and advertising are all considered in the payments. You have no say whether this is built.

I like st93's comment about striving for mediocre crap. Seems like that has been happening at Troy for sometime now! We can't pay our coaches for what they are worth, we have one of the worst student fan bases in all of universities. I say that because I have been to a UTPA game down here in Edinburg, TX and the place is loaded with people..and the gym is bigger!? Now thats freakin sad. I saw a game on tv against McNeese State vs. Texas State..and Mcneese's basketball arena is world class compared to ours. Lets see..what else can I whine about....parking stinks on campus, noone asked any alumni how they felt about the quad projectj, the band field still sucks, Mr. Ho will not put up his corporate name at the football games, and the big screw up with the bowl game this year. Other than that we are moving from mediocre to crappy. So there is some light at the end of our tunnel!

Wow. This has gotten almost out of hand.

For now, the only comment I am going to make is about the jerseys.

I have been working on an article for a class and in doing some research, I stumbled across a question regarding the uniform situation in the Ask the Athletic Director section.

Apparently (and this makes sense to me) all of the current uniforms (Troy STATE uniforms) will continue to be used until they begin to show wear. Yes, I would like to have new uniforms with the new name and logo on them.

BUT...I think that we have better uses for our money than blowing it all on our athletics department at once. So, unless some HUGE alumni donor donates some money for new uni's...I'm not gonna complain.

I agree Hide, and I think that once we build a balanced athletic program and a balanced academic program that people will flock to Troy and that the Auburns, Alabamas, Georgias, and the like will give us the respect we want.

I am all about having a great football team and I am excited about getting a new basketball Arena or Colleseum or whatever comes down from the top, but what about hiring the proper staff, what about paying the current staff what they deserve? What about Troy's commitment to a quality education and state of the art instruction?

How are we, as alumni, friends, and fans, doing in supporting our Troy? This is how other schools work... they support the WHOLE school, not just the football team. I know we are excited about building a quality Div. 1-A Football team, but let us remember, supporting the WHOLE school will inadvertantly support the football team.

Just my $0.02... no offense to anyone.

Powerful words Kurt. After that in depth analysis, I now agree that we should reconsider the building of a program, continue to field a team with "what we got", and have the goal of covering the spread whenever possible. UCFs motto is "Reach for the stars" - we're backing it up. Sorry if that rubs you the wrong way
