Anyone fired up for the UCF game? At least a small group of us will be in Orlando at 2 p.m. (eastern) Sunday to experience another exciting slaying of the Knights. (We'll be there Saturday night in case any of you want to join us.)

Over at the UCF A-Sun board, they are making fun of we struggling Men of Troy. Check it out at:

Here are some pics from last year's game, just to get you in the mood:

All I see is people making fun of Stetson.

After scrolling back 3 pages, I see this on 12/15:
"Ole Miss 81, Troy 49, another 30+ pt. loss for Troy who is 1-7"

And the post reads: "Man I remember last two years seeing all kinds of Troy fans on this site. At 1-7, they've disappeared, WOW."

Markey, that's some pretty rough smack. Not to mention an extreme spin on the facts and defamation of character.

And catch this reply: "I will enjoy beating them, but I enjoyed more the rivalry we had. That only existed because of how close the games were the last two years. Guess GW will be this years version of Troy."

Harsh words again. No wonder you're mad.

There are at least two threads in which Troy is ridiculed - especially by a UCFKnights85.

I love it when UCF goes into a game cocky.

Wow.

1) These posts were following a 47 pt. loss and a 32 pt. loss. The responses were "Troy is horrible" and UCFKnight85s post

"I don't hear the Troy fans anymore. I remember last year after UCF went 2-1 vs. Troy, all I heard was exuse after exuse about the officiating and how lucky UCF was to beat them twice. I guess the officiating was to blame for the 46 point skull drilling, manslaughtering BEATDOWN they suffered from SW MISSOURI STATE!"

Once again, calling out your fans who didn't just bail on the UCF message board, but from the sounds of this board, also bailed on your team.

You want to talk about cocky, Bob, how about you trying to dig up posts from a month ago, and then put a spin on them, just because you don't want to accept that the great university of Troy isn't really on the minds of UCF fans or anyone else. It's nothing personal - neither UCF or Troy are look to be contending right now, and we just got done playing 2 in-state rivals.

Just stop trying to create something where there isn't anything.

BTW - I don't think we'll win tomorrow. Two of our forwards are injured, and now star Josh Peppers is sporting a heatpack around his ribs. Against FAU, we were 1 foul away from having to put in a walk-on in the last few minutes of the game. You're in Florida so you may have caught that FAU game on tv.

If I were UCF, I wouldn't want to think about Troy either - might make my stomach churn, thanks to Troy's continued rise in I-A, while UCF has, well, stumbled a bit.

Your fans - at least many of those who post on your board - are venomous. And that group of "Jerks" - well they can't even get smart enough to cut out the F-bombs when they are clearly seated right behind small children.

My above links speak for themselves. Why you are so interested, or would want to post on our board, is beyond my understanding (I stop by yours only when Troy might be mentioned; otherwise I have no interest in UCF athletics). But you ought to feel lucky that Sarabelle and Jeff are liberal when it comes to monitoring opponents' posts.

I came here because we have a game in 24 hours...and when I saw your post, I decided to give my viewpoint on your mini CSI-like investigation.

You're just a little too uptight for me man. Most of the Troy fans that I have talked with on here and on the UCF board are much more real. If you take the time to read my posts, both in this thread and in others, I don't think you can find any reason to want to ban me, or delete anything I've posted.

I'm just one of the guys that actually enjoys these games - no matter who the opponant, and if a little message board banter can make the game that much better, I'm guess I'm game.

I get this feeling that if you had it your way, this would be Troy fans only - and maybe you guys want that. But I think most Trojans would agree that it's more fun to hear from both sides before and after a game, if you keep it in good fun.

Geez, no wonder UCF fans talk smack about basketball; the football team is an absolute joke.
Didn't they finish 117th out of 117 teams? IMPRESSIVE!!

Well, I'm not talking much smack, but I have confidence in our guys or I wouldn't be making the trip to Orlando from Troy.

I think that it's gonna be a repeat of last year's game in Orlando!

See you down there!

Still don't see the smack Kurt. But if we did, it wouldn't be because our football team was awful, but because it is January.

In a few monthes we might talk some baseball smack in regards to our ranked-preseason-as-usual baseball team. Then again, maybe we won't.

And next summer, we'll start talking football, even if we go 0-11 for the next 20 years. One day you'll get the concept of not being fair-weathered. I just ran some numbers and you averaged less than 2,000 in football attendance than we did..we were 0-11. So let's just leave football alone for now.

So here's to an injury-free game tomorrow...and I'll come by to wish you well no matter who wins. As I said above...we'll be lucky to pull a win out with our depleted roster.

Hey UCF man, just one thing you need asterick with your quote about Troy averaging 2000 less per game then UCF. Troy is a city of 13,000 and a student body of 5,000. So, at most games we average more fans then the entire town. So, if you look at the per capita attendance, I would say that we far out perform your attendance. I'm a central FL residence (east coast) and I know there are several hundred thousand residence in the Orlando area and at least 20,000+ UCF students, so don't give us a lesson on fair weather fans.

Thanks.

OUCH

You guys need to get rid of Ryan Heck. The man shot back to back airballs from three point land. He mustve hit up the Orlando bar scene last night ;)

I admire your optimism at 5-10, frankly I considered troy a 10-5 team because they were playing good basketball lately, winning 4 of 6. But they just got dominated in every phase of the game today by a Knight team that was missing two key role players who are out with injuries. For those that couldnt make the trip, its a good thing you didnt. IT was ugly for you guys.

It will be a hard-fought game in Troy, that's for sure.

BMarkey

You are mistaking domination for poor play on Troy's part. The team was Mr. Hyde tonight.

Troy beat itself with missed foul shots, poor shooting, crummy rebounding and lack of team enthusiasm. And despite all that, it took a barrage of UCF three-pointers in the second half (with a two-point lead)to pull ahead comfortably enough to win.

Please keep up your cocky, world-beater attitude. It will make me smile wider when Troy or some better team wipes the floor with UCF before or during the A-Sun tourney.

Good job on the court today, but you guys really need to clean up your act in the stands.

Look at NC State (complete with F*ck Duke shirts), I think we pale in comparison.

Do you think Troy's fans don't heckle? I'm not saying that other schools doing it make it right, but you are acting like we are the most awful people on the planet and that we are the only ones that do it....PLEEEASE! And as far as obscenities are concerned, I don't think I heard a single one. Well, when the officials were horrible and everyone was cursing at the same time, exact profanities were not recognizable but I'm sure they were yelled. But as far as against TROY, I really don't remember hearing anything. Granted I don't know where you were sitting and I don't hear everything, but the worst of what I heard was "SUCK", and that was it.

Try going to a Duke/NC game.

Troy won the confence title - you know, the one that is won on the court over several months of play? The Trojans have every right to show their pride for that accomplishment.

UCF, on the other hand has every right to be proud that it got hot for a few days and was declared tourney champion.

Regarding the classless actions of your fans (admittedly, mostly students) in the other thread: We all heard a number of obscenities, cheered in unison and supported by the band (which was awful) and cheerleaders.

They had no regard for the older folks in the Troy family area, or the very small and pre-teen children - some of whom were experiencing their first college hoops game. These vulgar punks were only a few feet behind us.

Teen-age family members of some Troy alumni - Florida residents who were considering UCF for an education - were turned off by the "Jerks," who, by the way, have been criticized in previous years for their vulgarity.

The moronic, loud-mouthed idiot sitting behind me made it a habit of screaming directly into my ears, and either he, the mascot or someone else kept lightly brushing against the top of my head.

I finally left my seat rather than send one or both of them sailing into the scorer's table.

UCF officials should shoulder the blame for these incidents. When a fight breaks out (and one will eventually ... Ryan Heck's parents had to endure quite a bit of verbal abuse from "Jerks" - only a few feet nehind them), UCF will be successfully sued for creating a hostile atmosphere and promoting violence, among other issues.

UCF could easily place the students in another section of the gym, or move the opponent's family and fans area. Allowing these groups to be in such close proximity is like placing a can of gas right next to the grill.

I can't wait until it goes boom.

Are you kidding me? LOL!!!! Getting sued for creating a hostile environment? No, there won't be another Pandemodium at the Palace (of Auburn Hills). If that was a violation of civil law, then we would've been lawsuit #5482518258158185 or whatever as far as college basketball was concerned, since it happens in EVERY COLLEGE BASKETBALL ARENA ACROSS THE COUNTRY. Have you been to more than three college basketball games in your life? I can't honestly believe that we are as bad as you think we are. Like I said before, go to DUKE, go to NC State, go to where there is BIG TIME COLLEGE BASKETBALL. And don't forget to listen to Maestri's Maniacs when UCF comes to Troy also ;) I'm sure they aren't saints.

Let's see, Troy beat UCF by 1 game in the standings last year if I remember correctly. Unfortunately for you, we aren't the IVY LEAGUE (where the best record wins the conference). Regular Season Titles mean squat. Talk to the Atlanta Braves about all of their NL East trophys, then point and laugh. Playoffs/Tournaments are when it counts. Don't cling onto petty accomplishments that don't mean anything.

Who exactly punched the NCAA ticket last year? You are making it sound like you blew us away in the regular season standings (like I said, 1 game back) and then we miraculously beat you in the tourney (which MATTERS) when we split the regular season series. I haven't heard an F-bomb in that section and all year. Stop exaggerating on how "bad the experience was" the worst curse I heard there was Suck. Suck is not a curse word. When we do the hey song the band actually sings the regular song as do the cheerleaders, it is only the Kirk's Jerks who add the "Hey, you Suck....Hey Troy state guess what, you suck" to it. If you took offense from anything said in that arena today then you need to get in touch with the world we all live in. That was not offensive in anyway. Please do everyone, including yourself, a favor and stay away from any serious sporting event because at most places you will hear much worse then the word suck and the occassional a-hole to the refs when one person gets upset over a call.

If your 17-year old sister/moms dont want to go to UCF because of the arena tonight then may I suggest a monestary or church for their higher education?

P.S. UCF won the A-sun tourney last year and that makes us the conference champs.

No, they will settle for a friendly, reputable place not known for its tasteless fans. Any place would be better than Oviedo, Florida Tech.

Oh, and see who's at the top of the 2004 standings:

#1 Troy ... 18-2 ... .900
#2 UCF ... 17 3 .850

From the A-Sun Web site:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Troy State men’s basketball team couldn’t overcome its worst shooting night of the season or a tenacious UCF defense on Saturday afternoon in the A-Sun Championship game, falling 60-55 to UCF at Belmont’s Curb Event Center.

The loss snapped the Trojans’ school-record-tying 13-game winning streak and ends TSU season with a 24-6 record, the second-best mark in TSU’s Division I history. The Trojans, the conference regular-season champions, will now await word on a possible National Invitation Tournament bid when invitations are issued on March 14.

I'm sure the Oklahoma Sooners were happy Winning the Big 12 because it was in the long run. The National Championship wasnt a big deal.

I'm sure the Detroit Red Wings are just satified with winning the Western Conference every year, that's more important than winning a playoff series.

Atlanta Braves: See in a post above

I'm sure the Philadelphia Eagles would rather win the NFC East every time instead of goign to the Super Bowl. That's why no one cares that they lose the NFC Championship every year

And Nah, we dont have to add "tournament champions", if you look at the poster being held by our players in a post above, you'll see that the Atlantic Sun refers to their Conference Champions as A-Sun champs. Thanks, but we don't need the additional information, you do.

And no, you weren't the best team in the A-sun last year. The Atlantic Sun believes UCF was, so do the rest of the teams in the conference, and so does the NCAA Tournament Committee by honoring the Tourney champs rather than the regular season champs. And their opinion matters more than a homeristic troy fan.

The only reason we are here is because you guys where whining about our fans like they were the only ones to ever heckle before at a sporting event. You continue to evade all of my factual information and points and just dont realize the truth with your Troy homer glasses on. Take them off and face reality.

Troy is 5-11. Troy was not the A-Sun champion last year. Troy was dominated today. Every school has rowdy student sections like ours, most worse than ours. Deal with it.

Alright buddy...I never said our team was super duper great....I still love'em though!

As far as us being "dominated?" HAHAHA, you consider an 11 point victory a domination? I'll go ahead and say it...yea, we are 5-11...but your Holier than Thou Knights only beat our 5-11 Trojans by 11 points....so that really isn't saying much?
(SW Missouri State....THAT was a domination...they have a great program)

Bob...just let these jerk-offs think what they want...they'll eventually shut up and go back to their little board...

and the reason we allowed Utah State to score 21 on us this season in football is we put the 4th string defense in the game in the 4th quarter after we went up 42-0....doesn't matter? Final score showed 49-21...so "we put our inexperienced players in" is a lame excuse...

But you dominated Utah State right? Thats why your 4th string defense was in. Same with our game today, we dominated your team and thats why we put our inexperienced walk-ons in.

You got beaten in the long run.

I dont know why I am still sitting here sucking on a popsicle and reading your besotted posts. Your team is déclassé and the fact that you say you won the A-sun last year is complete Humbug.

Neither do I. Go back to your confusing board and argue with some Stetson and FSU fans. Bye!

The regular season championship gets you a mention in the papers as being a remote possibility of being invited to the NIT...actually "remote possibility" is being very generous.

Conversely, the tournament championship gets you a ticket to the Big Dance. I'll take the tourney championship, thanks.

UCF played a fairly sloppy game at times and wiped the floor with Troy. UCF dominated both the offensive and defensive boards...."You can't rebound"

Oh yeah, did I mention the two starters who did not play due to injury? You played a tired and depleted UCF team and, frankly, it wasn't much of a contest.

They have a very good basketball program. I was in Nashville when they beat us in a very close game last year. Their big men dominated and Dexter played great defense. From the sounds of it, they killed us yesterday and the final score was no indication of how bad it really was.

If you think UCF is bad, you should've been at the SW Missouri State game this year. Ask Bobby Dixon what they were yelling at him. It was brutal, but pales in comparison to what the kids are saying to each other on the court. Trust me.

Midway through the second half, Troy was behind by two (and had the momentum). Then Troy forced a couple of threes, missed a couple of layups and had a turnover or two. UCF hit three or four threes and that was the game.

No blow-out until that part. Troy clawed back a bit (both teams had subs playing) but didn't have the shooting to get back in it.

Hey UCF, you won on the court today, that is for sure, but you guys really lost in the stands. Go read my post on how classless your "Kirk's Jerks" are.

Good job on the court today, but you guys really need to clean up your act in the stands.

Thanks.

UCF, see that is exactly what I mean. Your rationalize doing it because someone does it worse then you guys, hence that makes it alright. Can't you see buddy, that morality is going down the toilet. Let me ask you, are you married, or a student, do you have a young son or daughter? And, if you had a young son or daughter would you want them hearing that? C'mon buddy I don't think so, but then again you may be the parent who thinks it is alright to bring your kids to the NC state game and let them see the F-Bomb T-shirts. I'm not going to tell you have to raise your kids, but if you think as a parent that kind of thing is alright, then our morality has gone down the crapper and this is proof.

You UCF "Jerks" keep making yourselves look worse. I love it.

"We didn't say that."

"We did say that, but everyone else does it; We want to be just like NC State!"

UCF has an average to above average team. The Knights defeated Troy, no doubt about it. But it was never a blow-out.

Troy has the ability to be good (maybe next year, maybe by tourney time, maybe never) but has little camaraderie and extremely streaking shooting abilities.

Yet, our fans and school show class and don't try to justify behavior that is abhorred by decent people.

Your posts (especially yours, UCF) just solidify the opinions of most college sports fans who have had contact with UCF.

Cocky, tastelessness. That about sums it up.

I still stick by what I said. I have NEVER heard the f-bomb in the Arena. If it happens, it's isolated and in no way condoned. Suck is not a bad word and the cheers we do are very mild even when you dont compare it to what others do. When you do compare UCF student section to pretty much any other it is that much more tame. The cheerleaders and band never do the cheers with us. Their hey song is "Hey, Go Knights!" while the student section says "Hey, You Suck". What is being said on this site is way overblown.

I agree it is not the worst word in the world, but it says volumes about your school's taste and intelligence.

Do you understand to what "you suck' refers? Would you just blurt that out in a mall, in your cafeteria, in McDonald's, in your church, synagogue or temple, in a class, in a city council meeting?

Do you think that is just another word appropriate for public consumption, anywhere?

The funniest part of all of this is the way most of you "Jerks" are proud of your conduct.

Is this the type of education they give you at Troy? Just to let you know, I NEVER condoned anyone dropping the F-bomb and I NEVER have at a game. I also haven't heard anyone say that in the arena. I would seriously look at both sides of the subject. Your Troy loving friend might have exaggerated.

Man, you UCF people on here are just as defensive and whiny.

UCFKnights 85 - There was 1 Troy Fan? Are you sure about that? Pssst - they were in the stands, not on the bench (that was probably a transfer sitting out)

Outtawhack - I think that enough points have been made. Hashing it back up to get the last word can be fun too though. I agree that the cheerleaders didn't say "You suck" - and the band can't really say anything since they're playing at that part in the song. But as far as your inference that because YOU didn't hear any f-bombs that there weren't any - I don't know if I'd go ahead and believe that. I actually believe that there were probably a few dropped. I just continue to defend that it isn't a staple of the UCF fanbase, the Jerks, or the Rowdies.

Anyway - I dont see why you are all freaking out. UCF fans rest easy - we play in a Bible Belt conference, and this is the first time I've ever heard of fans being so taken aback. You don't have to prove anything.

With the exception of ST (who probably is a bit older and wiser, and is hopefully more representative of Knights fans), you UCF "Jerks" can read and comprehend as poorly as you hear.

I never said the word "suck" was a big problem for me, but it was for the older women and children literally a few feet from the morons screaming it. I suppose that you do not understand its reference or origin?

The more serious words and the viciousness of the "Jerks" was a bit unsettling for the young and old.

The real problem (stated again for you who can't comprehend) is the placement of the opponents' supporters right below the mouth-breathers. UCF is encouraging a fight by putting opponents so close to one another. Someone will sue and UCF will pay dearly for creating a violent atmosphere.

I would have a tough time uttering some of the words I heard screamed from the row behind me, knowing small children and women older than my mother were almost within arm's distance. I would be too embarrassed to do it. But perhaps some of you were raised a bit differently, as evidenced by the quote below ...

Suck isn't a bad word even on the radio. I dont go to temple because I think organized religion does more harm then good, but thats another argument. I dont have a dificient morality, I know how to act in certain situations. A college sporting event isn't a job site, church, or meeting. I said I use the word suck in those places, it is just in a different context if I do. I am smart enough to realize that if I go to a sporting event, especially college, that there will be taunting and maybe a little profanity. If I were to bring a child or family member to a game I know what I am getting into and I know not to be offended by it. I also realize that if anyone with me is offended by it we shouldn't sit near the student section. You could have always moved.

How was I supposed to know you only went to college in Troy and didn't grow up in that area? Most of Troy's students grow up in the region, so I assumed.

I am NOT stupid, that was an uncalled for cheap shot at me. I have not been taking cheap shots at you while on this board. That just shows who really is the more mature one between us.

It is now. The ClearChannel stations now cannot even utter the word "****," even when used as someone's first name.

I hope the powers that be at UCF are reading what it coming from students like you. You are what's wrong with society today. And everytime you open your "mouth," you make my argument for me.

"Suck" in a different context? I'm sure your rabbi, councilman or boss would appreciate that.

You are proficient at being wrong. Thousands of Troy alumni have always lived in Florida. That's why one of the Troy-UCF football games in the Tangerine Bowl still ranks as one of UCF's top home crowds. Troy's football team has the largest number of Florida players of any out-of-state school.

I hear radio personalities say ass all the time. I also hear sports stations all over saying suck too. I can't think of a specific occassion recently when I have heard anyone talk to a man named **** on the radio, but I am certain that they would allow it. It would be insulting to the person to censor their name. So obviously they aren't enforcing their new rules you mention.

How about this way. The high price of oil is sucking the money out of our wallets. Suck is not profanity and is usable in everyday life.
